I'm driving Scorpio Turbo 2.6 GLX from past almost 5 years. I'm putting a review on this site for the first time. My experience has been that Mahindra has experimented and tried to serve us with a very good product. Overall I've been delighted with the performance of my Scorpio.

But now days the service workshops are not competent enough, casual in their approach, and often tires to create high service bills. This usually frustrate most of the owners since they waste their precious time and money. Mahindra should fix-up the service issues and wake-up the customer care team.

I had an excellent experience with Bhasin Motors in Delhi, also the experience was good in Jaipur. Please safeguard yourself while giving your dear Scorpio for service in Chennai (India Garage or VST Auto Agency), Indore (Sagar Automobile), and in Agra. But do not use unauthorized service workshop.

I've tried best of these but experienced that when Mahindra's authorized workshops fail to diagnose the problem then expecting it from unauthorized workshop is very unreliable and risky. These modern cars needs right treatment and competent service engineer.

I drive around 25, 000 KM every year and have taken Scorpio on tours of around 5, 000KM and more. I’ve driven Scorpio on all sorts of conditions except snow – forests, villages, city, highways, mountains, etc.

Some tip & experience:

  1. This car needs some periodic inspection and maintenance. Best is that one acquires some basic knowledge rather than following the workshop managers. Also cross-question them. They prefer changing the parts and assembly even if it is not required.

  2. Try using just one workshop.

  3. Follow the maintenance chart supplied but keep in mind that the wear and tear of some components depends on individual’s driving style.

  4. Try driving the car between 80KMPM to 110KMPH on highways for better life of your car.

  5. Always be careful when crossing 120KMPH. It may get unstable while reaching 140KMPM on Indian road conditions. Remember our roads are not designed for such high speed driving. There are very few cars like the Honda City, Tucson, etc. which are smooth at that speed – but it’s a different segment.

6.Clutch and gear of Scorpio is bit hard and sensitive.

7.Prefer going with rear seats as side facing. This will keep life better for the passengers sitting on rear seats.

  1. Try avoiding roof carriers and bull-guard (if you have driven SUVs before).

  2. Try driving 2-3KMs daily. This car performs better if used more else it tends to trouble if you ignore driving it for some days. Especially battery, breaks, and other components will bother you.

  3. Cleaning the roof is a big problem and your car cleaner with try to escape. Ensure that you keep it clean else will have to repaint it after some time. I did this twice in past 5 years. Prefer parking in shades.

Scorpio compared to Innova, Safari, and the new Xylo provided. All these cars have their own market and pros and cons. I’d been a fan of Safari but kept Scorpio ahead of Safari based on the performance. Safari is any day a better looking.

Innova is delicate and has lots of known issues; above all the maintenance cost will be higher especially if you face accidents. Scorpio is a more mature product than Xylo. I guess Xylo will undergo some major changes like any other Indian car, which will affect the resale price.

Engine power, macho looks, etc. are known realities of Scorpio but be assured when you drive you’ll feel being the King on the road, and others treats you the same.Mahindra is improving and becoming a great brand, and one can expect that they will improve their service quality.
