To start with - this is my second review of the Logan DLX - the diesel version after completing 6 months and 6000 Kms. Those new to this may check back my first review of this car.
I am not going to go ga ga over this car...but if I am given back my money and asked to select afreash, a sedan for my daily use - I will again buy the Logan Diesel. It stayed true to it;s promise of milage, stability and after sales service.
You may come accross the disadvantages of this car by reading the other reviews, now let me help you to analyze them
The European cars come with a laft hand drive oriented switches for lights and wipers, check the Skoda or the Chevrolet - you will stop cribbing about the Logan
Most modern cars have a single rear light for reverse gear - most of the European cars and our desi SX4 has that - so has Logan
The boot opener now comes to Logan for an extra Rs 500/- you can get it at the time of purchase or at first servicing.
Now to tell you something that others reviews won't, consider this an experience of 6000 Kms. The Logan doors start making noise after you complete around 3000 Kms, this I cheked with a few of my other friends. This happens because of two things...just read about them below and follow the remedy
1 The door noise comes because the mounting screw of the motor for power window remains loose after the factory fit. Get it tightened at first service for all the four doors - the noce will not happen. If the nose still continues - read the second point
2 The door locks of Logan, function with a nob on the car body. The Logans released till Jan 2008 are with a nob that carries thin rubber on these knobs. Since LOgan received repeated complainst, they checked and replaced this door knob with a thicker rubber coating. This resolved the issue. The dealers are also advised to change the door lock knobs - free of charge against any complain. So if you are facing a door noise, adrress it to your dealer and get all the foor lock knobs changed.
The door noise is something very small to let down this common man's sedan. It is a true value for money when you look at an SX4 or Ford Ikon or Fiesta or an ageing Accent or a Verna.
Having said that I would still insist the reader to go for a diesel version rather than the petrol one - the true value aspect is more covered in the diesel version.
To add one more aspect - I found my dealer to be most cooperative and truly helpful, I can not vouche for all the dealers of Mahindra, but the servie centre of Global Gallarie, Thane - really help out.
