This forum helped me select the Logan as a family sedan. Let me present my experience uptil now and my opinion about the car.

The best thing about this car is the ride quality and the space inside. Compared to Marutis that have decided to make the rear seat more and more cramped and the rear window smaller and smaller with each new model. My wife hated sitting on the rear seat of a Dzire. Logan offers ample space inside and a car of European proportions awith decent view from all windows ( unlike new Marutis and Hundais).

I've driven this car to Mumbai two times, Matheran once, Mahabaleshwar once in the last two months since buying this vehicle. I think the car is comfortable to drive in city conditions, and great for long drives.

FE- I got early morning on the expressway from Pune to Mumbai( utpo Mumbai Central ) was 20.4 Kms/l. On other trips with lot of Ghat sections, I got 14 to 16 kms/l with AC 50%.

In city conditions I get 12 to 13.5 with AC. Suspension is the best thing... drive it on bad roads.. the ride quality is still good. Breaking without ABS is good.. have brought the car to sudden halts from high speeds.

Downside of this car is the Power Steering. It's unlike the electronic power steerings on some other vehicles. One needs to get used to the steering that is a bit harder than other vehicles. But am not comlaining now.

The complaints at first service were

1) noise in seat belt - rectified

2) Vibration in accelerator pedal at 3000 rpm - rectified

3) Rear door lock malfunction - rectified

It is not without reason that this car has done so well internationally. The following extract is from the Wikipedia article on Dacia Logan, which is the same vehicle as the Mahindra Renault Logan:

'The Logan is vital to increasing sales of the Renault group to the 4 million mark by 2010. In markets where Renault has an existing presence, such as European, African and Asian countries (i.e. Romania, France, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Poland, Serbia, Czech Republic, Croatia, Slovenia, Morocco, Lebanon, Syria, Turkey and many others) it is sold as the Dacia Logan.[6] Exceptions are South Africa, Argentina, Russia, China, Colombia, Egypt,

Brazil, Chile (Colombian made), and Venezuela where it is marketed as the Renault Logan.

In India, the Logan is marketed as the Mahindra Renault Logan Renault partnering with the Indian utility and commercial vehicles manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra Limited. In Mexico, the Logan is sold as the Nissan Aprio, given the better reputation of the Japanese brand in the Mexican market. Nissan Aprio has 1.6-litre 103 bhp 16 valve engine with 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. In 2007, Iran also began selling Logan models as Renault Tondar 90[9] by Renault-Pars Co. manufactured in Pars Khodro and Iran Khodro[10] . After a mere month of production, more than 100, 000 Tondar 90 have been ordered, even though deliveries will start only in May 2007'
