Mahinda Centuro is the newest motorcycle to hit the streets from the stable of Mahindra. Focused on being the segment leader, the new Centuro offers a range of never before seen features which makes it a very interesting product in its segment. It is Mahindra’s first attempt so far in the premium commuter segment and the company has left no stones unturned to make the motorcycle likable. It has some bits and pieces that it shares with the Pantero motorcycle; however most of it is an all-new on this bike. On the design front, this motorcycle does well to appeal to its buyers in the market. It has been loaded with features and at first glance it looks premium and different from all other motorcycles in the segment.

.Centuro is a premium commuter motorcycle and comes with a headlight unit that is bigger and bolder compared to the other motorcycles in Mahindra range. It has LED parking lights and generally looks very sharp from the front angle. The styling is distinctive and looks contemporary for a commuter bike. That said the twin moulded bars below the tank are inspired by the upcoming Mojo motorcycle.

The switchgear and instrument cluster is quite refreshing. The centrally located analogue tachometer is quite a nice addition on the cluster and it looks great. The instrument cluster houses a complete digital speedometer, two trip meters, service reminder, distance to empty and clock. The key FOB is pretty similar to ones that can be seen on the cars and can be used to remotely lock the Centuro among various other things. It features guide-lamps on the headlight which stays on for 30 seconds, also the is a features a find-me option on the key in which the indicators flashes with sound to find the bike in a parking spot and finally an engine immobilizer which works when the system on-board discovers a wrong key being inserted into the bike.

The engine is a powerful 4 stroke, SOHC, single cylinder, 106cc 2-valve engine that makes 8.5 Bhp of power at 7, 500 rpm and 8.5 Nm of torque at 5, 500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 4 speed gearbox which makes it easy to ride this bike with smooth shifts and excellent torque spread. It is clunky at times but that’s something you can live with. The motorcycle has ample amount of low end torque and is easy to ride around the city. With its well balanced nature it is easy to balance for shorter riders as well. Mahindra claims Centuro to deliver a maximum fuel efficiency of 85.4 kmpl which is highest for the premium commuter segment.

The motorcycle has good ergonomics as the seat is comfortable for both rider and passenger. The switchgears are easily reached and the handlebars are easy to hold. The braking could have been better as the front and rear drum brakes don’t have a good bite. It does however come with a 5 year warranty which is just fantastic. But the service centers aren’t as many as that of its rivals in the market. However Mahindra wishes to expand its service network and therefore customers should get good service for their bikes.
