Bolero VLX, (Not the one which has DI engine, its CRDE super refined diesel engine is smooth like any good CAR and tough like Army TANK.
I have 2011 model I have clocked more than 40, 000 kms and following are the few places I have been with my bolero:
Narkanda (Himachal Tibet Border), Shimla, Kasauli, Chandigarh, Every where in Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan, including Jaisalmer, Lucknow, Agra (Not to mention doing steady 140 KMPH on Yamuna Expressway), Dehradun, Masoori, Merrut, Bareilly, Muradabad, Nainital.
Whats the present condition of the vehicle?
Tyres are on 40% used can easily clock another 40, 000 Kms but I am looking to get it replaced.
Engine is absolutely smooth.
Rest everything is perfect.
What one needs to do while owning a Bolero?
Never depend on Mahindra Authorised service center, trust me they will surely spoil your vehicle within 3 months of your buying. You are bound to avail 3 free service, you will have to be adamant that during service you will be near your vehicle come what may, or else expect the worse.
Since you are not going to authorised service station that means you will have to maintain the vehicle yourself. Which means the following: change engine oil every 7500 km along with oil filter, use CI - 4 rating 15W-40W oil, Servo Futura D is good oil.
Change diesel filter every 20, 000 Kms with genuine filter.
Change air filter every 20, 000 Kms with genuine filter.
Change anti roll bar rubber bush every 10, 000 kms, this will increase your tyre life and suspension overall life.
Tyre alignment should be a regular feature, should be done every month.
Use alloy wheels which should be 6 or 6.5 or max 7 wide, for good performance.
Need to check water on battery every month.
Bolero reduces the coolant level, hence needs top up every 15 days, top up of 200 ml is required in reserve container, use red coolant only.
Lastly, one very important point is that Bolero needs to run 5000 Kms to get its engine free from break in period, hence take good care for that period.
Above may sound like a long list but this should be done with every vehicle, and if you do it with your Bolero if will never let you down.
Enjoy your Bolero. I have VLX and I have checked and tried ZLX, SLX, SLE and DI engine. It is better than all of them. This Engine is also coming in THAR now.
