I am a very recent and fully satisfied buyer of the new Bolero SLX 2WD BSIII launched in March 2007. I had test-driven a host of cars and was unsure as to what I wanted until I chanced upon this excellent vehicle which I lost no time in booking and now owning. Which other make or model offers power steering, power windows, boosted a/c, seven-seater capacity and an excellent all-terrain suspension for just 6.5 lakhs(in Chennai)? Any other type of vehicle in this segment with all the above features is costlier by more than one lakh. Kudos to Mahindra & Mahindra for having paid attention to customer feedbacks and reviews and presenting this wonderful vehicle that is giving all competitors a real run for their money.

The exterior look, especially the bold frontage, the extended bumpers, the two-tone ensemble on the bonnet, the curved tail lights and the innovative running boards is a definite class statement that causes many bystanders to gape as the vehicle speeds by. In the interior, all the new features - map pockets on the doors, the mobile charging socket, the relocated handbrake, the repositioned mp3/cd player, the huge glove compartment, the moulded lining on the roof, the bucket seats and the ergonomic styling of the drivers console as well as the disposition of the dials and instrumentation all adds up to the FEEL GOOD ambience this vehicle exudes. The background lighting on the driver's console makes it easily readable yet comfortablly subdued for night-time driving. The middle and rear seats are comfortable without being extravagant. Headrests could have been provided as a bonus with the whole package.

The extra large steering wheel coupled with the power steering makes it childsplay to manoeuvre this vehicle. The a/c is excellent and the interiors cool within minutes even in the scorching heat of the afternoon. The suspension is very good and the vehicle corners around bends with excellent stability. Driver has a commanding view of the road as well as all-round visibility. Gear changing is effortless and the drive is pleasurable even at low speeds. The running board on either side makes it easy for elders and children to easily move into and out of the vehicle. The new MDI engine is quick in response to demands on the accelarator. One does not have to be an auto-expert to understand that this is a vehicle that will satisfy most customer requirements.

Fuel efficiency and after sales service still to be evaluated. The only minus point is that floormats are not provided as standard equipment. With the felt lining on the floor of the vehicle and only small foot mats provided on delivery, the interiors would get soiled easily and be difficult to clean. But all in all, I am in love with my Bolero. Take a test drive and you could be hooked too!
