This mixer grinder is anything but a quality product.

Issues immediately after taking it out of the box:

1) Smallest jar found to leak.

2) Rubber legs are very poor quality and already cracked. Suction cups on legs? No chance!

3) Mixer vibrates like nothing I’v seen before.

4) Mixer started emitting smoke in seconds after it was given some heavier grinding.

5) Lids are capable of flying off while in operation, unless you keep your hand on them.

Besides these issues, the overall quality of this product is quite poor. Mixing and grinding efficiency also seems to be lower(takes longer to do the job) than our old Philips.Typically low grade Chinese stuff. The blending jar has a completely smooth surface(no flow breakers). The middle sized jar has what could be called very small flow breakers. The dome of the blender is made of cheaper translucent plastic instead of the normally used transparent polycarbonate. It is highly unlikely that the rubber gaskets and plastics used in the lids is food grade. In fact the gaskets emit an acrid chemical smell. The steel used in the jars is of lower gauge than used in our old Philips HL 1643, but it is what I would call at the limit of what is tolerable. Anything thinner and you would be able to deform it with your hands. So in short, given the price, the steel jars at least are of passable quality.

This mixer does not come with a whipping blade. No grating/mincing blade either. The 3 jars come with their own 3 blades and thats your stock. Our old Philips with 3 jars came with 5 blades.

Maharaja technician attended the complaint the next day(on site) and fixed the leaking small jar. No solution for the legs or extreme vibration though. Its just the way the machine is made/designed – no point in expecting even an iota of refinement. Two days later, the medium sized jar started leaking too. Their technician is yet to attend to this. It is relieving to know that at least they have on-site service. Wasting time with service centers is not something any of us have time for or inclination to do, esp. when you have bought a brand new product.

It seems most Mixer and Food Processor companies just procure their goods from small time Chinese companies and brand and market them here. Even other brands like Kenstar, Birla, etc., seem to be of pretty poor quality. Would recommend potential buyers to avoid such products, unless perhaps they are available at a very cheap price. Incidentally, we bought it because it was available in some offer for less than half the MRP. Don’t even bother to consider it you are getting it around the MRP. There is no telling how long these el-cheapo products will last.

The only brands that seem relatively decent are Philips and Panasonic. Panasonic has the best build quality amongst all, but is also the most pricy. There is a drawback with Panasonic in that it is L-shaped and hence has a larger footprint. Our old Philips HL 1643 hardly lasted some 3 - 4 years despite low to moderate use. So its not like even Philips is great; but its definitely much better than this Maharaja and possibly the other low-quality re-branded Chinese Mixers in the market. Also Philips comes with a 2-year warranty as compared to the 1 year offered by Maharaja. The best bet by far seems to be Panasonic.

If price is an issue for buying a Panasonic, consider Preethi. It is a South Indian company and I have been told that its mixers are at least Made in India and are better than buying the Chinese stuff sold by Maharaja and similar companies. However, have no personal experience with it. Exercise your own discretion.

I am giving this product 2 starts only because Maharaja service attended to their product promptly, and at home. Else, given the quality of the product, I wold not give it more than one star.

Hope the review helps potential buyers.
