I saw several reviews by various members in a last few days on this & thought main bhi ek dialog chipaka hi dun! (Munna/Anil Kapoor in Tezab) :) Here is my review after Afrank, Zuludancing & Deepshikha.

Of all the products that became popular in India there are two that made distinct impact, first was the Mango Fruity that you could find right from every 'Kirana Store' to Bus Stations & what not. The other one had similar popularity & still continues to rule the market & that is Maggie Noodles. I can easily bet that the middle-class of India regardless of cast-religion-language-state would choose Maggie Noodles as the biggest invention after Newton saw the apple falling down! :-)

Who can forget the several of the advertisements of 'Maggie 2 minutes' Mummmy bhhoookh lagi hain..Bass Bete Two Minutes!! Within a few days of the launch Maggie Noodles solved the never ending problem of all the moms: 'give me something to eat!'!

I still remember in the initial days when myself & my sister used to fight for cooking(?) Maggie. We used to hang around with mom; measuring the water, adding the masala pouches to the hot water & then the noodles & see them actually exapanding while soaking in the hot water. However, nobody realized that it took much more than 2 minutes to actually serve noodles after you started. It hardly mattered that it didn't test good after just 10 minutes of cooking.

There was an uncontrolled buyer's frenzy to buy every single packet of Maggie from the stores. I even saw people traveling miles just to get hands on one! The company, surprised with the demand increased the supply & finally everyone could have all the Maggie they wanted! :-))

Maggie noodles to middle-class was similar to Eggs/Bananas for hostelites! You just can't survive without it. The best thing about Maggie is that anyone can cook? them. There is no age-limit or prior experience needed, You just need to be able to read the instructions (for the first time that is).

It was initially launched in only 2 flavors I think, soon thereafter they added several of the flavors to suit Indian janata. Like every other product it became the part of the middle-class culture. Nestle has done a lot customization/minute changes from time to time to keep the interest in product alive.

Maggie 2 Minutes advertisement slogan would be rated as prob'ly the longest an idea has lasted since its launch. It must be recorded in some record books or something! I give 30% of the success of this product to the advertisement & of course the truth in it. Easy to cook & relatively good taste were the key factors for the sustained popularity of the product.

After watching Tom Hanks spending so much time on an Island I thought there is one thing lacking in his life to be happy & that is a boat-load of Maggie noodles & of course a few matches to light the fire! :)

Caution/Tips: Thanks to digantkamdar for these tips

(1) Avoid adding the Maggi-Masala first it brings up the boiling point of water, which results in longer than usual time for water to get boiled thereby wasting energy & time.

(2) Do not make a habbit of eating Maggi noodles everyday, as they are made of atomic flour ’maida’ which is troublesome for digestive system.
