Maggie, I started using it almost since it was launched in India; though Iam not sure of its exact date of launch my experience starts in 1988 i.e. over 18 Yrs back. Maggie masala has been my all time favourite. It all started with my starting my career as an executive trainee in NTPC in 1998 at Korba in Madhyapradesh (now in Chattisgarh). We were in a bachelor hostel without mess facility (can U imagine.?) in some damned village called Jamnipali. We had only one restaurant run by India coffee house which served tepid food; one could live on it not more than a few weeks. Enough of self talk; it is when I discovered Maggie.
Recipe : I used to rarely eat it as it is ie without additives. I used to boil water and add a fresh a few vegetables such as brinjol, onion and pieces of cauliflower and tomato, until the vegetables are cooked. I used to add Chhoka (oil with mustard, coriander and green chilly) and then add maggiemasala-mix and noodles and boil for about 5Mts. My batchmates used to like it a lot.
I compared it with many other products such as ''local makes which come with/without Masala'' and ''Nissen's Topramens' '' noodles which were very thin and didnot match the taste and feel of Maggie.
My kids also share my opinion on this wonderful product and we enjoy it in my home every Sunday. Maggie atta noodles are also equally good. LONG LIVE MAGGIE.
FOR HEALTH BUFFS AND THOSE WHO CONSUME THIS PRODUCT REGULARLY, THE COMMENTS OFFERED BY ONE OF THE READERS MAY BE USEFUL :
Maggi is not a healthy food they have been using MSG in their products from day one. The worst part is they market it to kids which is not ethical. Many people are aware of MSG in noodles and soups of maggi(even though they dont mention it the ingriedients) that is why maggi introduced their healthy range of soups which scream ’’no added MSG’’ because they were losing a lot in sales.
But I still dont trust maggi because they dont label their foods as ’’MSG free’’ or ’’no MSG’’ but they label it as ’’no ADDED MSG’’ which could mean that the ’’raw material’’ i.e. is the chicken powder or likewise could contain MSG but they havent added any to the finished product.
