Must visit places in Madurai.

1.Meenakshi Sundereshwar Temple:

Situated at the heart of the city. One more important lay in this temple is “Ayiramcal Mandapam”, wonder of the temple made up with thousand pillars. One great door is there around 40 feet’s height. There are four doors to the temple in east, west, and north and south, we can enter into the temple by any door and leave by any of the doors. The temple was constructed as square shape; watch the “Potramarai Kulam” --means “Golden Lotus Tank”

It will take around minimum 5 hours to observe the whole temple. Near to the “Periyar bustand” and railway station, 10 mins walk or take an auto from there.

2.    Theppakkulam Mari Amman Temple:

Located 10 kms from the railway station. Catch number 4 series buses to this temple, take 30 mins from railway station, and see the temple which is in the center of a beautiful pond

3.    Tirumalai Nayakkar Mahal:

This is a palace was built by “Tirumailai Nayakkar” emperor. I think all of you have seen this mahal in most of the “Maniratnam” movies who is a well known director. Now we able to see only a small part of this palace, one can wonder after seeing this palace.

4.    ThirupuramKundram:

This is a holy place, here Lord Muruga’s temple is to be found below the mount and “Darha” is in the above. It’s pleasant to look at one Hindu’s temple and Muslim’s Darha in a same mount. 15 kms south from Madurai.

5.    Alagar Kovil:

Located 20 kms north to Madurai. Lord Perumal’s (Krishna) temple is in the mountain, walk throughout the mountain reach the temple in the top. In that way one more Muruga’s temple named as “Palamudhircholai”, small and famous temple.

Apart from these, there are lot temples situated one is near to the railway station “Emmaielum Nanmai Taruvar” temple, one is near tallakkulam “Perumal Kovil” and one more place to visit is  “Gandhi Museum “, even one theme park ‘Athisiam’ is located 30 kms outside from Madurai. ”Murugan Idly Kadai” is one of the famous hotels in Madurai, get 5 variety of “chatnies” in this hotel.
