I had heard and read a lot about the author of this book - Mohan Deep. He is controversial and clearly the conventional press and traditional reviewers do not like his writings. But that is nothing new. In all periods, in all the fields society has condemned those who have dared to do something different.
I got the biography and finished it in one sitting! It was very readable and Madhubala came alive in the pages of Mohan Deep's biography. Her talent, her beauty. her large heart (with a hole in it that made her cough blood) , her desperate desire to find true love becomes a sad reality with the daring and honest portrayal of Dilip Kumar and her tyrant father Attaullah Khan.
These two person emerge the villains in her life. What make the book convincing and authentic is the standards Mohan Deep has maintained. Every part of the story names a source. The entire story can meet any rigorious examination. My hats off to the author.
As a reader, my complaint is about the cover. The author's name is in a small size font as if someone at the publisher's wanted to restrain the author from growing.
But years later, today, Mohan Deep is the darling of reading public.
