There are two kinds of crappy shows on TV: Family Dramas and MTV Roadies. Since its inception, the show has been on the forefront when it comes to doling out cheap, abusive entertainment. Even though there are a few shows that try to rival it, MTV Roadies still comes out trumps. The executive producers of the show claim this show to be an enlightening one with a dose of entertainment, travel and adventure. The reality, however, is saddening.

Created by two DU dropouts Rajiv and Raghu Ram, this show has a simple format. Meaningless and humiliating tasks are assigned to individuals and they have to perform those tasks in order to earn their places in the finals. The tasks are pointless, however, the drama circling those tasks is eye-grabbing. An abundance of abuses, both from boys and girls, can be heard while those guys engage themselves in their respective assignments. The winner is hailed as a roadie, someone who has somehow endured those abuses and physical torture with dignity and sometimes, cheating.

The auditions for this show are some of the worst you can ever imagine. Candidates are asked weird questions and are verbally abused time and again. You can only wonder what purpose those abuses serve, while the so-called jury asks their questions.

It is a show, which everyone should avoid. Being a roadie is not about enduring abuses on a TV show. It is about facing the challenges of the real life without complaining and resorting to cheap verbal fights.
