I was earlier using Tata Photon and then used Tata Photon+ . They are very bad. Trust me, its literally years I have personally used them. I shifted from Photon to Photon+ as I was promised faster connectivity. But they proved to be lousy, like almost all other Tata products, apart from TCS and Tata Safari 2.2 VTT Dicor SUV, all other Tata products are horrible. But this isn't about Tata or its products. I said all those above to make all readers understand that, compared to MTS, Tata photon would be a Godsend!


More than a year back, I shifted to MTS. After sales service and customer care were non-existent and poorest of poor. But connectivity was fast and reliable, much better than Tata Photon+. I could use it in my work place, where Tata did not have any signal even. But the goodness was shortlived. Speed was gradually going down, but still I could use it and as I was promised 40GB a month for Rs 999, I was more or less happy.


But somehow, after few months of using it, I lost my MTS dongle. Yes, it was my fault and somehow I misplaced it. I immediately called up MTS customer care. One typical know-all type chap, answered that we have shut it off, as per your request. Get another dongle, we will start your new connection. Here starts my misery. I go to the previous shop from where I purchased the wifi dongle. That shopkeeper says, Sir I sell MTS Wifi dongle with new number and new connection. What you need is a blank dongle, so that your previous number can be put in, and you can start your connection again. I said where is that blank dongle available. He says in, any MTS official shop and not the retail shop I have been to.


So finally one day I go to MTS official store. This new chap says, tell me your previous number and let me see whether your previous number is really off. I say, oh yes, I called up customer care, and they have verbally assured me that MTS have shut off my connectivity, to prevent unauthorised usage by third party! He was persistent, I gave him my number. He checks on his computer and says your number has NOT been shut. It is wide open. I was aghast and worried! I asked that man, how can I trust you, when your colleague, was found to be totally untrustworthy?! He said I have to pay him first, then wait for a week, and I will get a new connection, AFTER MY PREVIOUS CONNECTION HAS BEEN SHUT, this time!


I walked away obviously. Then I contacted that chap who used to collect cheque for MTS from me. He send a new man to me, who promises a new connection, with a new number, this tiome in my mother's name, with a promise to shut my previous number. I pay him, he gives me a new number, which gets connectivity in next 3-4 days, and then this man says to me, I have already told higher bosses. Your previous number will get disconnected soon, just send them an official email with the request. I do that. Now MTS sends me a mail asking for clearing of 2 months due!


Now, the second part of my l;ong experience. This dongle was also wifi and came with a new scheme - 20 GB daytime, 20 GB night with same Rs 999, but actually nobody can keep a tab on how much you are actually using. I wrote to MTS to send me sms everyday, like Tata Photon+, used to do, informing me of how much bandwidth and connectivity I was using daily. They obviously did not. Now after 2-3 months of using it, I notice that bill was more than Rs 1122, inspite of them saying Rs 999. Now that was tax. I say fine, and I keep paying.


Now as before, connectivity starts trickling again. They are after new customers only, to increase their base. Once you are hooked, they reduce your bandwidth, connectivity and if you write to them on 2nd of a month, they will say, we will get back to you by 10th! So you sit pretty for next 7 days till those stupid good for nothing staff of MTS, takes their time to sort out lapses from their end.


In responses to your mail, they write back something like this -


"Thank you for writing to MTS.


We sincerely regret the inconvenience caused to you.


You have expressed your concern in the email dated Fri, 05th June'2015 regarding postpaid MTS number 8648031770 about connectivity issue, we would like to inform you that we have registered a complaint to resolve the concern.


The complaint reference number is JUN/xxx. We will update you on your concern by 10-JUN-2015. "


They are incompetent, good for nothing, obviously under instruction from their superiors, that do not provide better connectivity, otherwise we wont be able to get new customers. I am NOT having net connectivity for last 5-6 days now, and writing this with help of my BSNL broadband.


Please AVOID MTS like the plague. Take any other connection. I will personally try Airtel this time. I hope MTS shuts shop, gets bankrupt, the bosses of MTS sell their folks on the road as peddlers and all other staff from customer care/after sales service became pauper on the road, selling their vital organs to put a slice of bread on the table at their home!
