Last week we celebrated our aunty's 60th birthday. As she's a vegetarian and doesn't like anything other than homemade food, I decided to prepare something for her which she likes. I remembered that she appreciated the gulab jamun made at home. But with a toddler at home, it was not possible for me to start making that from scratch. And I have a problem, too.either I make it too soft or a bit hard, till date it has not come out totally perfect! So this time I thought of buying the MTR gulab jamun mix. I trust MTR over any other local brands, so the moment I decided about making Gulab Jamun, I thought of MTR. I have tried MTR payasam, chutney powder, bisibele bath powder and puliogare mix previously, each one of them turned out to be very tasty.
I bought a small packet for trial. It made 18 jamun. The first thing I noticed about this mix is, it becomes very soft and moist while kneading. I always put a cube of sugar inside so that it doesn't taste bland while breaking into pieces. Sometimes the sugar cube doesn't dissolve if the dough is not perfectly made. But this time, it melted properly. It smelled delicious while frying. After dipping into the sugar syrup the size of the jamun swelled almost twice. The final product was exclusively soft and very tasty. I garnished the jamuns with chopped almonds soaked overnight in milk, that also increased the taste. After getting all positive feedback I bought a bigger pack and this time I allowed my cook to make the jamun. That also was awesome and I served it with vanilla ice cream. It was so good that I got only 2 in my share! Well, I can say that I found something very easy to prepare and serve for parties, without much effort. I love gulab jamun, so now I can experiment with this mix. Thank you MTR for being the savior!
