MTNL is soon going to be a history. I believe, it has always come to our expectations in providing a worst service and crumbling infrastructure. It was a blunder when I decided to take MTNL broadband connection.
We have been using the MTNL telephone connection for last decades as we had hardly any options available at that time. I did not want to invest in the USB broadband connection so I approached MTNL customer care for the details on the connection.
As communicated, I contacted the local exchange for the connection. To my dismay, I was told I need to wait for couple of months as they dont have any vacant port for the connection. Subsequently, I keep on listening that a new connection would be available in next couple of days. The 4-5 months had gone and finally I had to bribe the linemen to give me a new connection. Finally, I got the connection in few days when I took the other route. The connection was done in superficial manner and we started talking to our relatives, who are staying abroad over internet phone.
Few days went well, but, after some time internet encountered connection problems. Within a week of getting an internet connection, I had to call up the customer care every time if I need to start the internet. It usually took an hour or more to connect with a very bad speed. The situation remains same for almost a month. Then I stopped calling the customer care so internet stopped working. I complained many times inbetween but nothing happened.
I paid the internet bills for almost an year after this saga as I had to travel because of my profession. I could cancel the connection after I paid many visits to MTNL local exchange and headquarter. I could not have beleived that this is the real situation of state telecom in this competitive era. Cant MTNL think that how long would they survive with this work culture and services in the next years?I think this is the beginning of end for MTNL..gud luck!
