Am using the MTNL Broadband from its early days(think Feb 2005). At that point of time MTNL only provided the boradband connection at the cheapest rates and from the very start opted for the unlimited plan. The quality of the connection is not at all good if compared to its competitiors like Airtel/Tata Indicom/SIfy and others. The frequency of the conection speed is not at all good it keeps fluctuating from very slow to fast and its been a constant practice since the past 8 months
Though I must confess that MTNL these days is prompt on complaints and even they changed the Routers whenever we have made the request for the same, though the problems remain unchanged. I guess they need to top up their customer care and field staff with more technical skills or would do justice dfinately if they outsource their problem redressal and customer care for broadband to a private technical vendor.
The postivity of using MTNL is that they are totally transparent on their billing part and for the past four years of usage we have not faced any billing related issues once. I guess this is a problem consumers are facing with all the private operators but the quality of the services provided by them is good.
MTNL has also cut down on its rates hence its a good option for those who want to have a broadband connection for 24 hrs for general Internet surfing and mail usages. It would not be beneficial for those who are into heavy downloading(movie downloads etc.) and use internet banking and other sort of transactions regularly. Also you do not need to have a separate phone connection if you are already using MTNL+ these days they have launched the wi fi version of tri band also. Hence generic broadband users can definately go for this broadband, for heavy surfers would definately suggest other options.
