Help & Support:

This is the 1st time I m using triband, with 599 plan & have used other BB ISPs since jan 2002, so I know very well. which 1 is the best in mumbai. I had applied for this connection becos I had no other option (other than my cablewallah through zeenext or through tata vsnl BB) & got it after a month !!! (thank god, they activated the DSL link/sync signal on the same day). [@ my previous physical address location, in the next door suburb, I had applied, but dint get it for 5 months !!! & I had to pay for the phoneline rent, just becos their DSL exchange was not setup (thank god the local cable guy's ISP service was good)].

To my amusement the surfing speeds are slow, I get ranges mostly of dialup to dsl speed(only sometimes) during peak hours except popular sites like rediff, indiatimes etc. well also depends on the website has been hosted (UK or US). but yahoo opens a little slower than rediff. sometimes surfing is very fast (25-200 KBytes/s) during non-peak hours & especially @ night slots (12 - 8 am). same above holds for downloading speed.

I am using 3Com company's 3Com OfficeConnect ADSL Wireless 54Mbps 11g Firewall Modem cum Router, which is also a home networking device like u must have heard of Linksys/Netgear/balkan/Dlink router only. But only in 3com's case, u don't have to buy for a separate modem, apart from the other companies above.

In terms of technology, its @ par/on the lines next to US robotics, a company, which has been & is still very famous & no.1 for its dialup modems.

Though MTNL did tell me that its a compatible device, but not on their modem-router to buy list & also not technically supported by MTNL in case of any ISP technical problem, I m not sure, whether my router causes any problems, which I don't think so. But its always better to buy a single standalone modem-router homenet working device than going for a seperate modem & router, so that u can use in both DSL & LAN technology ISP connections & also use it to connect your laptop wireless & desktop wired-ly in your house.

People out there who want to monitor your upload/download speed, please download a small no-nonsense software application called DU meter available from https://dumeter.com or netmedic or other softwares from https://download.com

Now a special look @ the usage information in our account section page (which opens up veryyy slowly !!!).

In the 1st column, they have mentioned 1 GB as 1000000000 (only numbers, but have not denoted the 'term' which shd be MB or KB)

But our usage in 2nd column does denote the MB term (which has to be less than the plan u have taken or else you will be charged extra).

So the difference in the 3rd column will be high, which makes u think that u have a hell lot of stuff still/yet to be downloaded for the entire month, whereas the true part is its getting lower by the day depending upon your amount of usage.

Seems that MTNL is misguiding us, so be careful here, especially if u r not a techie.

No wonder how this still monopolised landline company in initial stages, reached NY stock exchange listing, by cheating us indian citizens in delhi n mumbai.

Take this connection, only if u dont have any good choice @ all, you think, in your area, better than this 1

I think I will be discontinuing the triband service, again to take a risk trying out my local cable guy through

ZEE

& Now with BroadBand (BB) in existence & they themselves being a cable TV distribution company, are also offering their BB service technically & seperately, but through their reach of cable tv network.

Man, this cable tv distribution network is a little confusing. is hathway a part of this company ??? Anyways...

The problem with zee is they advertise their service very less (might be becos of their reach) & they are a little costly too. Dont know much about these guys yet, so I want more reviews about people having their connection @ present. Seems as if they do not want to business in ISP area since they are doing well through their TV channels. Can do better improving their service & expanding their reach/feasibility, if they want. same problem lies with zee's dish tv DTH service, where I have heard that these guys are good in terms of providing no. of channels, with a reception better than tatasky & also continue to provide service for few days with 40 channels, even if your bill payment is overdue, but their problem part lies in their design of navigating through their application software through TV unlike tata sky which is easy to understand & user-friendly. its said that the physical Dish life of dish tv service is of 3 yrs

OR

through tata vsnl bb which most of us might be having [yesss, many, infact most customers like u, might not be aware,    but unfortunately & confusingly mistaken for tata indicom (thanks to the same tata guys, who are supposed to intimate the customers), again through the same LAN/Ethernet technology but physical cable & switch connections done by your local cable TV service operator, becos of their prolonged extensive reach since last 20 yrs]

So whenever u have any internet problem, it is divided into 2 parts

if its an external physical cable connectivity problem outside your home (might be inside also), then your local cable guy will attend it.

but if the problem is on your PC, then only the tata indicom guys attend.

So this means technical support (TSP) is divided into 2 channels, taking double the amount of time to rectify & u landing up as a frustated n angered customer.
