I am writing this review after reading the negative experiences that people have been having with MTNL.
The Good:
My service is super-fast and it almost always stays up.
The customer service is quite good and MTNL has been able to resolve my problems within 24 to 48 hours. The only time I had a problem was when the MTNL phone dude gave a parallel connection to my telephone unit, directly from the telephone pole. People, when you have a DSL line, any parallel connnections should be made from the DSL splitter. If you make a connection from before this, it is going to result in your internet connection consistently going down and then staying down.
The Bad:
The billing does not show the usage times. It comes clubbed in with the phone bill, which makes it impossible to decipher.
The Ugly:
The Rs 400/month connection for 600 MB /month limit was inadequate for my needs. Consequently my Internet bill was quite high, almost Rs 2800. I have since opted for the higher data plan, which is about Rs 600 for 1 GB. If this too proves inadequate, then I shall upgrade to the Rs 900/month, unlimited plan.
