First things first. MTNL call center people are as good as any government office. They speak your language. Feels like you are talking to your neighborhood vendor when you call. No hint of professionalism as they keep talking loudly, giggling among themselves, talking about recepies etc even as you are on a call. Their trouble shooting is basic but they do take your complaint, give u a docket number and pass the baby(you to the line man who by and large comes 3 days after you have fixed the problem with help of the neighbors kid.
When it works, it works fine.
When it is down, be prepared till it stops raining for a few days and then try calling them tepidly.
Be prepared to be blocked from all websites which the government deems unsuitable for you. The initiated can always find a way around this small problem.
The service is on the expensive side but good enough for a SOHO setup. Download speeds are decent.
An advantage is that you get a government landline bill which is really important for getting other documents such as passport, Adhar card etc.
Get into it if you like SBI type service and not Citibank
