Good one to buy for dual sim users.. Review on MIcromax Q5 EZPAD

This is really a good phone to buy if you are dual sim users. if you using one sim I prefer to use other brands.

I have bought around a month ago. Purchase price is : 4280. Few noticeable points I like to share :

1. Trackball : This will attract you in first look only.. it's really a very good feature as we have OK key in Nokia/Sony/Samsung phone. Track ball is all in one.. very smooth ball, one can easily navigate from one menu to another..

Cons : When it's in your pocket, Ball is pressed due to very smooth and sensitive. I personally had problem and dialed few calls. This can be avoided by keeping auto keypad lock time in few seconds.

1. Copy of Blackberry look.. really nice and attractive look. very stylish.. You feel proud when you have it in hand, not like china mobiles.. and rubber case which is inclusive in pack make looks more better.

   
   




2. QWERT keypad : again the best feature for those who like to sms or chat from mobile.. You can type very fast as you have computer typo keypad.. It comes with Nokia E series packs but in such price.. your dream will come true of a phone with QWERT keypad.

   
   




3. Dual Sim : Very good managed phone for dual sim.. You can get call, SMS for 2 sims.. also while call/text you will be asked for which sim to use.. not a single mistake for sim selection. You can customize your gprs settings, profile settings, ringtone settings, Browser settings individually as per your sim selection.

   
   

I have one sim with unlimited gprs plan, I just needed to configure all settings for that sim. It's one time job..

You can also keep one network selection automatic, one manual.. Network settings also can be customize as per sim.You will also have separate call and GPRS logs for each sim. Now let's talk about other feature apart from outer side

1. OS Support : Good support with Windows 98, XP and Vista (including x64 - which is best option ) I don't know about windows 7 support but in driver CD, It's not given for Windows 7.

   
   




2. PC Suite Support : Good suite with which you can get backup of your sms, also you can copy your songs to mmc from your PC/Laptop.

   
   




3. Memory Support : again good expandable memory. Company saying it supports upto 8 GB. I am using 4 GB memory card. No problem what so ever just little bit slow if your card is full, which is obvious.

   
   




4. Sound Effect : Very good 3D sound support.. it's with 3.5 mm Jack so you can connect it with your external speakers and can enjoy sound. Hands free also good enough if you are traveling.

   
   




5. Bluetooth Connection & Speed : Very fast speed of bluetooth transfer too.. but you need to pair the device first ( typical Java OS problem )

   
   




6. Processing speed : I found this phone little slow after 4 GB of memory card till that time it was working very fast.. Though it's processing speed really faster than other phones.

   
   




7. Personalize Contact Settings : You can set ring tones for individual Also 1000 contacts capacity.. You can set fax, address, birthdate for contact.. which is normal feature but I thought to mention.

   
   




8. Inbuilt softwares : When you buy phone.. Inbuilt facebook is there which is known by all but it also includes Yahoo, Google and MSN messenger.. also you will have Opera Mini inbuilt browser which is very good mobile browser.

   
   

Now few lines for those who like to use gprs alot from cell phone / laptop

1. If you use gprs from your either of sim. This phone really great to use.. You just connect your phone with your laptop and phone suite will create dialup connection by itself only.

   
   




2. Good speed of GPRS.. very fast access of messengers and facebook. who are orkut lovers, this one is good for orkut too.. it's connection speed is so fast specially if you using just in mobile.. you will be very happy with speed.. I manier times use gprs for live cricket score boards.

   
   

Cons: You need to choose COM port by your own from PC suite if you change your USB ports.. like first you connect with front port and next time you connect in another USB port it will ask you to choose COM port (You need to check from My Computer Properties)

For FM Lovers :

1. Amazing experience.. 3D support of sound.

   
   




2. Best feature is you can Record FM songs.. (!!) really great one in such price.

   
   

General Features :

1. Image editing software: which will merge 2/3 pics from your mmc or camera.

   
   




2. Slide Show: You can slide show your mmc/phone pictures..

   
   




3. Average Camera Result: 2MP is now a days not good enough for those who like clear pics.. but overall you can rate it average pic quality.

   
   




4. Email client: You can configure POP3 and SMTP accounts from this phone.. Good Business Feature..

   
   

Cons : Slow your phone speed as no of mails increases.

1. Battery Life: As company claims.. it's 180 hours stand by time. but when I start use for very long.. it dry after 4-5 hours of talktime/gprs connection.

Cons: You cannot make a call if your battery is too low.. A big big big problem if you want to call in emergency.. (if there is some settings I am unaware but I have searched in user guide I haven't found it yet)

Apart from all these features few issues which I faced:

1. No setting for Ask Before send service message.

   
   




2. Left ^AB key supports Abc, ABC feature.. Right ^AB key support ABC, abc, 123 feature.. so you if you want to type message in numeric you need to press right side key compulsory.. but you will be used to after few days.

   
   




3. Sometimes it doesn't lock the phone when you press track ball + * button

   
   




4. You can use only 5 ringtones from your mp3 collection.

   
   




5. Too heavy vibration.. which will lead phone to be fall from desk.

   
   




6. Second sim will be shown as not available when you are talking from First Sim.!!!!!! :O Missed Call alert facility will solve this issue.

   
   

I suggest one should buy this phone if he/she is wishing to buy smart phone in low range.. also good dual sim phone. All Normal users won't face any problem for using this phone.. For Corporate business users Nokia E series is better..

Till few days before I was so happy to have the phone but issues coming from phone are:

1.Now it is not being detected with USB.

I tried at service center but not good response from them. They are asking to send cell at delhi and wait for 15 days etc.

Sol: I am connecting it via bluetooth port which work for SMS transfer and access Internet.

2.Format doesn't reset all settings to default.

I had updated Opera mini then due to not detection of USB, I formatted cell which removed Opera mini updated version but didn't restore previous version. so I had to install Opera mini externally.

3.Track ball sometimes doesn't work.

Navigation ball sometimes doesn't move right side, so to use right side menu I need to go down and left and while using internet I use Alt+6 for right side navigation.

4.Backlight doesn't stop after 10 seconds.

Backlight sometimes doesn't stop at all. It happens when track ball press for about a minute in pocket. I need to restart the cell for stopping Backlight.
