Earlier I thought, "the phone is good but not tempting enough for me to write a review!" but now I stand amazed! The phone is amazing. Obviously you might have got an idea of what the hype was about after going through other reviews, but here i'm gonna try n be a li'l different in my take on this!
The things I found A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!
Track ball is used by micromax quite efficiently, it's smooth and feels so good to navigate with! I also owe a mac, and the mouse has the same track ball! so it was a home coming for me! I've been a fan of this feature since long!
QWERTY pad is good! nicely placed keys and efficient use of space on the pad is what makes it easier to use and type. you wont feel tired after long hours chatting! though this feature has been around in many high end phones but for this mid-range phone, this is complete value for money.
Looks: the phone looks very sturdy and great to hold in hand! and it resembles blackberry quite a bit and looks like another smartphone. The included rubber case is great and gives a beautiful outline to the phone. the phone has metal cover at the back, which also looks great! quite a bit the design is a mixture of blackberry and E71 (E series)
Internet Ready: how much I like this is inexpressible in words! you have facebook and msn at one click of a button. and install a few good java applications from https://getjar.com and the phone will increase in productivity counts. i'd recommend downloading Snaptu, mynotes and ebuddy!! ebuddy is great app and gives you all the chat accounts logged in at one place, ready to chat. snaptu will do the same for many more intresting things, facebook, twitter, news blogs n all!! and as they say...You'll be hoocked!!!
Email Ready: could you believe that a phone so low in price would support automatic mailbox access using POP3 and IMAP??? if you are on gmail you just got lucky, because its quite easy to configure your mail account for access in the phone. you'll be notified as the mail arrives! amazing isn't it? for configuring your phone visit here https://bit.ly/G4enc
6:Audio output: the inbuilt speakers are as good as some dell laptops!! I don't say they are phenomenal but yes quite descent and very good in clarity. to say the least, the speakers are from YAMAHA!! the headphone are simply amazing sounding, look cool and produce great audio with phone's inbuilt 3D surround mode or Reverb etc!! you can actually feel the effect of 3d sound in headphones! tell you something??? I am not exaggerating the least!!!
message and contacts: each 1000 in capacity! the contacts if stored in phone can be edited to store many relevant details like address, email, home, office, fax etc! that might be common but is an advantage for sure.
battery life: it provides 180 hrs standby time and that is good! listening constant music for 8-10 hrs or so, will dry up the battery! but that is a long time! I was pretty impressed!!
3.5 mm jack: great for all your big huge speakers which supports a 3.5 mm jack for input! just plug those (with external power supply) to this phone's headphone jack and get rocking! the 3D sound effect can be easily noticed in those! this output jack is great advantage as these headphones are readily available and most commonly found ones! for eg. ur computer's headset!
Price. I got it for 4200, after recent budget it might fall a bit more. so no words for this department! extreme value for money. no other phone come even close to this one
Processing power : Very fast processor! opens opera and other java apps faster than many Nokia phones. quite easy navigation! I recommend to install opera 5 as it giver good speed improvements over the older version. but some typing difficulties might arise with the version 5.
Dual Sim support: not a thing to mention but just in case you missed out on that! just to tell that this phone ( linked many Chinese phones) is a dual sim dual phone which means talking on one sim will render the other sim inactive for that time period!
My perception: Micromax is growing really really fast and will be very popular quite soon. in this phone what they did was they made some hardware improvements over the existing Chinese phones or sm and all for good!!! they collected some famous and handy applications and worked a lot on the phone design and gelled it all up at one place!!! and this all worked for them amazingly!
My final verdict : If you are tight on bucks and really want a great productive phone with most effective internet access and advanced features, just go for this one!! Micromax has realized that they have made an excellent product and so they say "you'll be hooked" and rightly so!
Otherwise if you have some more shells and really need a smartphone then go fir some Nokia series! For all the students, and internet savvy friends of mine, this will be an asset in your pocket! thanks for reading guys :)
