Highway Eatery Charmed by the name, we ate there some years back. This was when it was in Baner. We enjoyed the service and the food and spent some time chatting with the proprietor. That first visit, we had Fish thalis. Probably the Mh 09 Customer thali and a fish thali. The two photos are of those.
Bylane Eatery Some months back, we visited MH-09 in its new location in FC road. Again, we took one thali and some other dishes. That experience must also have been liked for, this Sunday, we went there again-a family group of 7 people and had a grand meal.
Family FeastThis time we ordered 2 kinds of prawn dishes(Prawn Chilly and Prawn tawa - Rs 400 each), one mutton dish(Masala-Rs. 450), one chicken sukkha(Rs. 225), one dal(Rs. 100) and sol kadi(Rs. 30). We also had one rice(Zeera Rs. 110) and some rotis(normal at Rs. 10 and bakri at Rs. 20). The presentation was quite nice with carrot and cucumber carved as flowers. The portions were adequate. Everyone liked the Sol Kadi too. While the main dishes were not extraordinary, they satisfied the Tikha quotient we’d requested. That is not a complaint as I have not yet found a place that stands out. The bill came to Rs. 2025. It sounds reasonable.
Could be BetterThere is an indoor option and a sitting arrangement closer to the road. In the latter, some trees are also within the arrangement. The decor is pretty ordinary but the ambience is slightly raised by the post-it notes stuck on a glass pane, all handwritten reviews of customers. Four-wheeler parking will be a problem but there is space for two wheelers by the side of the restaurant.
Besides the name, MH-09 needs to work a little harder to create a specific USP to attract clientele as its present location is not well placed. At present, it might attract those who want to sit and talk quietly.
FansYet it has many die hard fans: Google reviews, 3.3 on Zomato, 4 on Burrp!, and even Trip Advisor has some good reviews. On MS, I see some 35 or so reviews but I’m a bit anxious as all the reviews on MH-09 are by people who have only 1 review to their credit-the review of MH-09.
