Unfortunately, I decided to take admission in this University for MBA in Material Management. The prospectus seemed very good and the admission test, oh quite impressive, then its campus was at Red Cross Building in T.T. Nagar. In the next few days my name was displayed on the notice board of having been selected for admission. I deposited the admission fees and the tuition fees. After waiting for some time for their response regarding issue of Study material etc, I visited them and found that since we were the first batch and reading material was to come from IIMM (Indian Institute of Material Management) Bangalore, it was taking time due to less number of students. Some more time elapsed and I was told to deposit the exam fees for issue of admit card during one of the visits.
I could not appear for the term end examination due to my preoccupation with my employers. I had taken a No-objection from them in order to undertake this course and given a written commitment that no official work shall hamper in my completing this course, so there was no choice left, even if I have to forego the exam. Finally on my visit some time later, I was told that study material is now available and that it will be issued from the ITI Campus at Govindpura. Again some weeks passed and finally I got time to get them issued. This new place is very far from my home as well as the work place. So every time I wish to visit, I have to specially plan for it.
In the mean time a full year has passed and my earlier admission got expired so I took readmission, paid the requisite fees and wrote an application stating my position and requested for permission to appear in the final examination again. After certain number of visits, I was told that my application has been accepted and I was issued a admit card but with a new roll number. I thought that this is an open university and here they might be following such procedure. I appeared in this examination, which was held in BHEL college campus. Again after following up for the results and few more visits to the campus and few visits to their website, I came to know that the results are declared, however my marksheet has been withheld. After meeting several section heads, I was told that u appeared on a new roll number whereas their records have different roll number in my file. I was again told to write a letter apologizing for this mistake and asking for a fresh review of my answer sheets, then only my result can be declared. What a dying person can do against University officials / machinery, I did what was told. After around six months I got the marksheet (visits how many? I forgot).
Now comes the beautiful part. As per the Prospectus I have to pass all the theory papers successfully, then I have to submit a Project report and the university shall then conduct Viva-Voice for grant of my MBA. When I got the marksheet, I was thrilled, as I had passed all the theory papers. Again I approached the same lady (one I have been meeting since taking admission) who had been so courteous and helpful in arranging all the above and I had no grudge against the university. This time she told me that from now onwards, I have to meet the Regional Director for any assistance. No problem, I approached him and was told that since there has been so much time passed since you appeared in the exam, please submit an application for permission to give the Project report. The same was complied by me and again visiting so many times, I was asked to give the Project Report. I was prepared for this and duly submitted the same.
Then my visits started for follow-up for date of Viva Voice. Again due to my preoccupation with my employers, I could not make a round of this campus for around 20 days. When I visited them next, I was told that all the viva voice has been conducted within this period and the last one being held just two days before. So please write an application requesting for the same. In my next visit I was bluntly told that my application has been rejected and to get the MBA, I have to appear for the examination again as I have surpassed the time limit of exemption.
An interesting event occurred, during this time there was a vacancy for Head (Commercial & HR) in my co and I appeared for the Interview. I was selected, but the qualification stipulated that you have to be an MBA in any Mktg, Matls or HR so I submitted an Affidavit stating that I have cleared all the theory papers of MBA, submitted the Project report and only waiting for the Viva-voice to be conducted by the University. My co people wrote letters to the University that such an affidavit has been submitted and appointment has been made to the applicant subject to your confirmation. I was praying that as I did not receive any communication from this university, similarly my Office also should not get any response. My prayers were answered and I got the confirmation from my co as no correspondence objecting to the Affidavit was received by the co.
Now the University has again shifted its campus to their own building at Kolar Road and I hope that sense prevail among the Directors and I am not made to appear for all the papers again, although I am ready for the same.
During all these five years I have not received a single Communication at my postal address from the Great University.
