M Fifty Two may be well located for resident of South Delhi, but thats just about the nicest thing I have to say about the place!!
We had visited the restaurant cum bar about a month back on a Saturday evening. Now, it says there that Happy Hours last from 1230 - 2030 everyday & yes, they do. But Happy Hours at this place does not mean 50% off on all liqour. It means that during this time of the day, a few selected spirits & cocktails can be served to you at a not so discounted price. Thats about it!! You do not have a choice in the matter. If you do not like what they have in the Happy Hours menu - thats too bad! By the time I got to know of this I was already quite worked up, so I didnt bother to find out if this is a Saturday Happy Hour concept or an everyday thing!
Anyway, once I selected a not so interesting vodka based cocktail, I sat and waited for it to be served. Few minutes later, a bartender walks right upto us and asks how would we like to pay - cash or card??? I mean, did we have to pay already?? We just said, we hadnt decided yet & he walked off. Again I didnt bother to find out, if he had us confused with another table or it was custom to ask guests the question. Maybe they would set service standards based on the answer. People paying by cash got better service & those paying by card suffered because - 1. they mostly do not tip, 2. its on credit (!) We said we didnt know yet & got pathetic service so they eventually we did pay by card. Serves them right!!! But, we did tip :( we always do!
Okay, finally I was served my ''not so interesting cocktail'' which was just that - ''not so interesting''. Actually, I should have tried something out of the Happy Hours menu, wonder why I didnt think of that earlier (??) Wait, I know why - because the rest of the stuff was equally ''not so interesting '' & expensive !
So, thats that about the service & the drinks.
Let me not forget the crowd, even though this is not the restaurant's fault. The place was filled with groups of adults from the age group of 45 - 60 who had just landed straight from office. There is nothing wrong with that except they talked too loudly, ate & drank too loudly & laughed too loudly. I ended up knowing all the happenings in all their respective offices - that is some information I could have done without.
Overall, stay away from this place. Its really not worth it unless you want a drink with your colleagues after office. Why I say this is because they might just might be offering better Happy Hours Deals to groups from offices. And while youre there dont forget to listen to gossip about other people - you never know what you might pick up!
