First day, last show is normally when I catch up with movies that I anticipate to be good enough. Lucky didn't disappoint me. I'm lucky ;)

First things first, Salman hasn't got over Ash. Sneha gets to act in the movie only, and only because she looks like Ash. If she has to do other movies, she has to work very very hard.

THE MOVIE:

There is not much of a story to write about. Lucky is a girl who lives with her family in Russia because her father is posted at the Indian Counsulate at Russia. She is on her way to her exams, for which she's not prepared, when she has to run for her life after being chased by a russian brat. She hides in Salman's car (the son of the ambassador at the counsulate). They get stopped at a checkpost. Suddenly the russian rebels spark up a war and the two have to flee from the scene.

From here on the movie is about their journey to return to safety and their falling in love in the process. The movie flows on a single tone throughout. No heavy emotional exchanges between the lead pair. The discomfort of the age difference could be felt by the viewers also.

The movie has 3 major things.

First -- the wisecracks (Salman in the first half, Mithun in the second)

Second -- the lead pair falling in love (not too convincing) - we can understand that a 19 year old can fall in love with a charming man due to the stage in her life, but the movie doesn't portray any strong reason for Salman to fall in love with the girl.

Third -- The lovely music by Adnan Sami.

THE HIGHS:

Salman Khan - He's typical Sallu, a lot of wisecracks to start with and then getting serious as the movie goes on (Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam??). But thats what his fans love. He does look extremely good in the movie and well has acted the way he does.

Russia - The movie has captured Russia wonderfully, both when it looks beautiful and when it is in troubled times. The camera work makes the movie look really good.

Adnan Sami - This is perhaps the highest point in the movie. Not a single song that you will not like. And it is because of Adnan, we get to hear the best in the industry crooning to such wonderful lyrics and tunes. The music will really go a long way.

The Songs - The songs have been picturized quite nicely. Aake Bharlo tries to remind us of the chemistry that worked so well in HDDCS bet Sal and Ash.

THE LOWS:

Russian language - Considering that the movie is being watched in India it is annoying to see that there are no English subtitles for quite a lot of russian dialogues that have been spoken in the movie. They are not important, but then something is being spoken and we don't understand - thats annoying.

Lacks Power - Like I mentioned, the movie is too one toned. Lacks drama and intensity. Largely due to the fact that the directors are debutants and so is the heroine.

THE TOLERABLES:

Sneha Ullal - The fact that it's her first movie she qualifies to be tolerable. I have seen worst performances by heroines in their debut movies. This girl has a long way to go though. She seems willing to learn but right now looks like she needed help in every frame of the movie. Her dialogue delivery and vioce quality lacks expression. She almost sleep walks in the entire movie, but yes... she must have reminded Salman of Ash too much for comfort.

Mithunda - Waste of a role, but then considering the movies Mithun normally does (which no one watches), this one will give him quite an expose. Tries hard at being funny like Salman but fails to an extent, not miserably though.

Anyways, here is a movie in a long time that is worth a watch. Considering all the skin shows that have been plaguing the silver screen lately.
