Great photography, well executed action scenes, decent background score, and a half way decent music - albeit lacking in variety between the different numbers. Those are the redeeming features of ‘Lucky’ if you look hard for them. So, what is the problem? No spirited glue of a story, script and dialog to put them all together. The proceedings are so bad, that they look pitiful, when they are not lame. Forget the audience, the writers probably know it too. The laughs, for some of their funny lines, come only from the characters delivering them. That could look funny in its own silly way, but it actually ends up evoking pity, and, at times anger.
There were definitely some fresh ideas. Like, going to Russia instead of the over visited Swiss Alps or Canada or US or New Zealand. But, if only they took the trouble of packing a script, along with the the other things, the results could have been much better. Minor details!
So why is it, still recommended? For the excellent, imaginative and panoramic camera work. But not without the recommended use of a Fast Forward button. In fact, when that proves ineffective, you may want to switch to chapter hopping. But you obviously are going to be un’lucky’, if you end up in a theater to watch.
To that extent, this review is only based on partial viewing.
