FARHAN AKHTAR!!. Review on Luck By Chance

I went to see this movie only and only because my friends wanted to go. I am glad I went. I guess the major pull of the movie is Farhan Akhtar who like his character in the movie, seemingly unassumingly is drawing hapless hypnotized-by-sheer-hotness girls like my friends and in turn, me into the halls much like his character in the movie.

Luck by chance does not dwell too heavily on the struggling part. Not for the lead anyway and it is not as angsty as the ‘sapno se bhare naina’ trailer makes you believe. Interestingly, somewhere, they tell you what will happen in the storyin a totally unrelated scene but you don’t realize. Well, I didn’t.

The good part is the characterization. The leads are not black or white but grey. The industry walas are and are not caricatures. It’s realistic and also utopian. It can happen, it might not. There are snipes but it’s more satirical than being a spoof.

For a first attempt by Zoya, I would say it’s a very goodone. Only I hope something happened in the first half. For real. The first halfonly builds to the second half. But the second half kind of redeems it.

The performances are wonderful. The extended-cameo byHrithik is quite cute and the cameos by the other actors are well placed andwell executed.

Konkana does a good job and tips the scale back to harmony when they have been leaning towards Farhan a bit. Not that we complained.

Finally, Farhan! Hrithik! Farhan! Pure awesomeness! I am surprisedmy eyes didn’t pop out. Probably to let me watch more of Farhan. He can direct(well), act, dance, sing, walk out of showers looking amazing, ACT! (it’s a rarething here) and more and more and more. And if a girl’s heart doesn’t missseveral beats, or quickens by several beats when he rides a horse on a beachacross the scene, then she is probably already dead. He’s that good!

I should stop, in case my heart stops beating now.

Worth a watch in all.
