Well, yet another film from the Akhtar family is out and weren’t we expecting a bit hit! Yes we were. So are all we amazed as to why it is not a very big hit as the producers/directors would have thought. I have read some reviews on MS which range the film from above good and lower than the best. It reveals that the film is missing a PUNCH! that we were all were aspiring to.
I saw this film twice (its not that I liked it too much) just by chance and felt the same glitches that I experienced when I saw it the first time.
Clearly the film is a combination of OSO, Fashion, little of Rock On and something of many other hit films. The formula was ok but was not executed properly. So the result was a raw cake. I shall not get into the story or the plot of the film but shall get you the glimpse of what you might see. It's a struggle of a struggler among millions of strugglers who want to make it big in the film industry! Some of them get happy, some get pity, some get dirty and some get LUCKY! The story gets predictable within 20 minutes and you would feels as to what you are going to see for the next 2 hours. Also your filmy bacteria would not allow you to leave the hall so quickly.
So if the film is so much predictable then what is the point of watching it? Yes this is a million dollar question and the answer to this is: WATCH IT FOR ONE OF THE BEST PERFORMANCE OF RISHI KAPOOR! He has made such a mark on the film that you will just fell in love with this actor and his character. He is a true gem of the Indian cinema and is just getting better and better. Every time you see him on screen, just observe his dialogue delivery, his projection, voice modulation, emotion, anger and what not. A perfect paradigm of what acting is all about. A SUPER SHOW.
Farhaan Akhtar has done a commendable job with this one as well. But he was so much in the film that you start disliking him. Its like too much of salt in a recipe. Every frame shall have him on the screen and for all those 2.30 minutes you will see him for almost 2 hours. No doubt the film is based on his character and he being the central character can justify it, but a bit different execution would have made the flick a bit more digestible. Still he has given some stunning scenes and you shall not stop praising him. His struggle will get you the message that you need at least 1000 hearts to get into this industry or for that matter in any field. And be sure that at least 999 hearts shall be broken and even after that if you can stand and deliver , then only this world would have something in store for you or else.......... Konkana Sen is off shaded and has done her part well. I can say that this is the first film in which she was a bit overshadowed by Farhaan's performance. Despite having the climax dedicated to her, she sitll appeared way behind. Buck up Mam, you are better than the rest.
Hritik is as good as usual (only dancing). First time we all are gifted to see some of the gray shades of this Macho man. He is in total control of the character and a treat to watch.
Dimple was good and did herself. She can still steal show without anyone getting noticed. Wah!
Isha Sharvani, except being a gymnast, she choose to do films. She looks very very cute in the film, but looking cute cannot guarantee you a long term career in this industry! She has tried to be there but seems to be lost on most of occasions. Some of our friends on MS have also written that its her debut film, but its her 3rd or 5th film. Her first was Kisna and I believe she was in You me aur hum. Common learn some acting too. You can do wonders!
Rest of the cast is ok and have done enough to get the motion going. The music is ++ and the songs are very gripping. I think the Baware was a good song with not a very good choreography.
The costumes were way to low and boring. Background music was ok and the cinematography was good enough.
Overall, the film is ok to be watched only once and twice for Rishi Kapoor. Absolutely, nothing special to see or get amazed off.
