A New Wave of Worship

If you've visited worhiptogether.com, you'll know there's a hot new series of worship albums burning Christian Music stores all over the world. This new series blends worship leaders from the UK, USA and Canada into albums that are an exciting new arena to experience Christian worship.

Lovely Noise is one of the earliest and is an impressive collection of great worship numbers. This album possesses great variety and a fresh energetic mood and swings from soft intimacy to adrenaline pounding guitarworks that lifts up God's Name!! I bought this album on impulse - I've heard only 1 song before and almost all the artists were new. Trust me - I've never regretted it!

Sonic Flood opens this album with their bestselling I Want to Know You a very familiar number that is really catchy and singable. Can't believe that the same Jeff Deyo who had a couple of below average solo albums has risen so much with SonicFlood.

The title cut Lovely Noise by Greg and Rebecca Sparks features a great mix of simplicity, solid guitaring and an almost childish tune that rocks!!

David Crowder then shows the way a 2-song-combination can really build up. Make a Joyful Noise has a plain guitar start that then beautifully builds up as it transforms to I will not be Quiet before reaching maximum tempo as he comes back to Make a Joyful Noise with guitars screeching all around! Impressive. The album then quietens down a bit.

Gary Sadler's How I Love Your Name is sung in soft quietness and sets the stage for some intimate worship to follow. Next comes the most intimate and hushed song in the album and is also my favorite..

Paul Oakley's House of Gold. There's something in the hushed soft lyrics and vocals that penetrates deep into your soul and sets your heart on fire for God! The quietness continues with Sacred King by Matt Redman which has an electronic background to it with a simple tune.

John Hartly then brings back some punch to the album through Happiness is You that gets your fingers tapping. You'll probably wonder what Cheri Keaggy's name is doing in the middle of the album! Although her name does not seem to gel in, she belts out Reign in Me powerfully enough to keep you satisfied. Throw in a familiar sequence of 4 chords repetitively and you have Capstone's You are My Rock. Quite good but sounds too familiar.

Greg and Rebecca Sparks then return with Calling out Your Name, a soft number that oozes a desire to get closer to God. The album then softens further to David Crowder who sings an amazingly simple yet powerful I Lift my Eyes. Lovely acoustic guitars run through the song. The album then winds up with Delirious' Sanctify which is the only live track and is a bonus. Delirious has impressed me greatly with their worship, but this isn't their best!!

On the whole this albums is enjoyable and lively. The changes in pace and music are refreshing and really lift you up. I'm looking for the other albums in the series to be released in India. Till then….
