Love Story was recommended to me by my brother and I'll be eternally grateful to him.
The first line is one of the best starting lines I've ever read: "What can you say about a twenty-five year old girl who died?"
Love Story is the story of Oliver Barrett III and Jennifer Cavilleri - how they met, fell in love, married and were soon parted by Jennifer's death.
The plot, pacing, characters, dialogue and climax are all exceptional. I saw the film after I read the book and I have to say that the book is infinitely better. The book is only about 125 pages but it packs a wallop in almost every page.
One of the favourite lines in the book: "Love means not ever having to say you're sorry."
What I liked best is the relationship between Jenny and her father and that of Oliver and his father. The last scene is paradoxically the most touching.
The only caveat is that there is some profanity, though it doesn't seem out of place or contrived.
HIghly recommended.even if you're not interested in romantic stories because Love Story is much more than a mere romance.
