Saw ‘Love Aaj Kal’ a day after I saw Luck, what a difference! This movie meanders on interminably, at the slowest pace imaginable.
The critics gave it a head start by raving about it. Talk about slow pace! Guaranteed you will doze off at regular intervals and still not miss any thing.
Imtiaz Ali, takes the concept of Salaam Namaste and then goes and makes it so ‘thanda’! A novel take, where the story of the father unfolds simultaneously with the son’s. A story which mixes the sixties and the present delightfully. But that’s it! Imtiaz forgets to put any spice or masala to keep one immersed in the movie.
Other than the oh! so sloooow pace, I don’t have any complaints. Saif is able to carry the movie on his shoulders competently. Deepika adds glamour to the proceedings….Rishi, is as usual in his element. The new girl, (whats her name?) is too coy and effaces herself into the shadows.
Then that’s L A K for you, a movie with Rishi, 2 Saifs, Deepika, a new miss, no locales to speak of, a sitcom if you will. Twist! is a delight though, and so are the other songs. See it if you enjoy Saas Bahu and the likes!
