The effort is worth noticing and Imtiaz is seen treading lines of Karan Johar taking routes via London – Sanfransisco to apni dilli. The Brazialian Giselle as harleen must have had an experience to play the comely sardarni opposite the likes of veer singh. Her stiffness and lack of latka jhatka only added to beauty of her character of being “the girl next door”.
The movie beginning with the end of relationship between Saif and Deepika follows the flashback love story of veer singh(Rishi Kapoor) in the by-lanes of delhi. Qutub Minar has got prominence while bits of Lodhi Gardens and Purana Quila could be identified with. Anyways the eternal love story of yesteryears of boy searching her girl at platform and traveling 1000 miles to have a glimpse of her lady love just once inspires the story of aaj.
The Film also delves into the “practical” aspects of being in love being followed by “today’s” generation which in its entirety is not true, however satires on people who think so.
A plain movie but dealt interestingly during most of the parts like after breakup party, sharing each other non-sense habits and relatives. New of some sorts. Although the movie lacked punches to be remembered but can be watched for its continuity and some colourful music and dance. Although Prtiam we know his work, background score by Salim-Sulaiman effortlessly adds strength to the situation which otherwise could have been gone down the drain. Deepika’s character has been played that of clarity in thoughts and mistake done by Karan(Kabhi alvida…) in handling a situation like at the end has been corrected by imtiaz by dealing with sensitivity and sensibility.
L-A-K also scored some points by not having highly vocal K2 I mean Miss K Kapoor, by virtue of her holding hands with the first time producer S-A-K. Who sensibly didn’t opt for his muse and instead took along Miss Padukone for her on screen performance and her justice with the role. She needs to speak to her directors in next movies for the routine close-ups she has been giving since OSO days. Some change is require or she’’ll need O2 support after a round of a few movies.
Personally I liked the gang of veer singh and family of harleen after they come to know of the letter by veer singh. Delhi also looked nice from days of oldie cars to Metro. You may chose to watch simple story of veer singh and see along Saif and deepika.
