Story:

I had never heard about Lord Of The Rings until the movie came...and then I realised what a book I had missed...At Last I got hold on the much acclaimed book..and it really proved to be very absorbing.

The story revolves around the ring I must say, about how good people get together to destroy the evil..and these good people involve simple people like hobbits,a magical wizard, the happy and wise elves, the dwarfs and men too! Even if the these characters are unheard of(except men), then the book gives you a full history of the hobbits (supported by family trees), and their description is so detailed and vivid, that one would really believe that such a fantasy existed.

Really speaking, this book is not just about destroying evil, but it is more about virtues: friendship, trust, true leadership, bravery, loyalty, goodness of heart; about betrayal, presence of mind, patience, quick thinking and much more. It shows that even simple people like hobbits can brave the most dangerous things, if they have determination and will to achieve the most difficult tasks! Even if you have not got great powers, yet you can face big adversities and come out of it.

Merry and Pippin stand for true friendship. They never knew the perils yet were adamant that they would go with Frodo to unknown lands and never leave him alone. It was really touching when they were arguing that they too should go with Frodo as they were his best friends (Now I am not going to reveal much) Sam, yet another hobbit stands for loyalty, who would never leave his master and face the dark world alone without their leader, Gandalf, the wizard! That is the epitome of loyalty.

Legolas and Gimli represented opposing parties, yet they could come together and become the best of the friends...(which shows that if you have clean heart and character, no matter what the age-old differences are, they can always be resolved).

No one can say it is boring, coz there are many stages in life which represent some situations or the other in our daily life! It is a must-read book....such an integration of so many characters, so many descriptions of middle-earth and so many situations....is simply enthralling!

Such a vast story has been written in such a way, that one can imagine the imaginary characters, their nature, their emotions, the description of the lands, and yet one doesn't feel that the description is halting....the story goes on with the description......the reader would feel as if he is a part of the epic!

Before Lord Of the Rings, I had read all the four volumes of Harry Potter, which is yet another collection to be read. But one cannot compare both of them. Harry Potter is a book which narrates a new story for each new year of Harry potter while here, the entire volume has only one objective, to destroy the ring and with it the evil. Yes, both of them are full of fantasy yet both of them are different. Moreover, masterpieces are never meant to be compared, only admired!!!
