MOTS PREPAID

MOTS has two variations one is 'Follow Me' roaming and the other is MOTS ROAMFREE

FOLLOW ME

How does this work?

Well during my last trip out of Bombay, I had the opportunity of using this service and it proved to invaluable in terms of service and dependability. About three days before departure I got my normal MOTS prepaid activated for 'Follow ME' roaming and it was a cinch. Just called 505 and followed the voice prompts and was through in just about 30 secs.

Thereafter I was told that it would take approximately a day to get activated but within four hours I got an sms confirming that my roaming was activated. Rs.30/- was deducted as activation charges and another Rs.30/- was deducted as monthly roaming rental charges.

When I was on the train and had crossed out of Bombay limits, I was greeted by SMS messages from all the local service providers of the various cities that my train passed through. Various companies like CELLFORCE, ESCOTEL, and even AIRTEL were part of the associated service providers who had an understanding with BPL prepaid services.

It was quite interesting because it kept me in touch with all my friends relatives and ofcourse family. They were able to call me at normal local rates whereas I was paying Rs.3/-per minute of airtime plus local STD charges plus 8% surcharge on roaming usage (airtime + std charges)

The only drawback is that I could not use my MOTS to call anyone whilst roaming. Only incoming calls are possible. All incoming SMS are free but I was charged Rs.4/- for every SMS that I sent..Yes, we can send and recieve SMS but cannot make calls. Not bad considering I am an occasional traveller and wouldn't need to call anyone so desperately but definitely would prefer to be in touch if someone needed to reach me.

Definitely very useful and convenient and it goes without saying that this service was clear and I had no problems whilst travelling out of Bombay. I had a good clear reception and I am speaking out of personal experience whilst roaming through states like Gujrat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh,Delhi and even a hill station like Nainital and a town like Bareilly.

Definitely convenient- Only one more drawback-Cannot recharge in alien networks nor can we check out on our balance airtime-gotta plan to recharge sufficient airtime before we leave our city limits.
