Got a chance to visit London last month. What a nice experience to be there!!!! After long journey almost 13 hrs as I went via Milan, I reached Heathrow Airport.
Airport is huge. Mumbai Airport is 1/10 of this airport!!!! Correct me if I am wrong. All facilities were available at the airport like Connecting trains within Airport, when will this happen in India???? Friendly and helpful staff. Customs and security persons helpful.
After Heathrow I left for Euston Square. Another nice experience of Trains!!!!! Superb trains no rush, on time and clean!!!!!!!!!! No huge queue for tickets. Vending machines for tickets. Help yourself or can ask for help from Enquiry section. These people will guide you for cheapest and easiest way to reach to your destination.
After reaching Hotel got myself fresh and went for exploring London city. Once you reach London do one thing first get Virtual Calling Card which will help you to call at your origin country in very cheap cost. They are having various cards for calling various countries.
Visit any mall, 70% malls will be owned by Indians (specially South Indians and Sikhs) so they will always helpful to you. Go for window shopping on Oxford Street. To explore Oxford Street you need at least one week!!! Huge shopping malls and shops. But if you compare it with Indian Rupees then hold your shopping otherwise you will end up with huge bill in Indian Rupees!!!!!!!!!
Internet access is another issue in London. Look out for cyber cafe which are there on Oxford Street as they charge only 1 Pound for 1 hour. Because most of the other Shops offer net for 1 pound for 10 mins!!!!!!!!!
Food is good in London if you are non-vegetarian. If you are vegetarian then you have to struggle for food. Indian restaurant are there but in these restaurants you have to eat for 10 pounds/person.
Transport service in London is Superb!!!! Taxi, buses, trains every thing clean!! Roads are superb. All signals work 24/7 day. Unusual for Mumbaikars. Drivers drives very cautiously. If you just place your foot on road all the vehicles will stop automatically and let you go first!!!!!!!! Amazing!!!!!!
You can have Thai, Chinese, Italian food within 5 pounds that also unlimited buffet system. Take away system is also there for 3 pounds in which they will provide small box for food to take away. Be cautious while taking down food in these boxes because if you unable to close these box fully then there is a fine of 10 pounds!!!!!!!!!!!
Planning to visit 'London Eye' build by British Airways? if you get time on weekdays then go for it otherwise on weekends you will end up in huge queue for tickets and huge queue for entry nearly 3000-4000 people easily.
Don?t forget to take your Winter Clothes, Ear Cap and Cotton Socks. Temperature is average in between 7-8 easily. In night it goes further down. Rain falls anytime.
