London Dreams - Wonderful Movie To Watch
To dream anything that you want to dream. That's the beauty of the human mind. To do anything that you want to do. That is the strength of the human will. To trust yourself to test your limits. That is the courage to succeed.
London Dreams the movie was previously named as Rashque. This film was originally planned over a decade back to be made by Rajkumar Santoshi with Shahrukh Khan and Aamir Khan. But later, the name was changed to London dreams and the roles were offered to Salman Khan & Ajay Devgan.
London Dreams drives its basic plot from the Oscar winning film Amadeus. The movie on Europe’s great musicians and composers of all time Mozart and Beethoven.
The film's plotline is very simple. The movie is all about jealousy between gifted talent and hard earned talent for music. Life is never easy for those who dream. Arjun (Ajay Devgn) and Manu (Salman Khan) are childhood friends from Punjab. Arjun is an ambitious & trained musician obsessed with performing at London’s Wembely Stadium.
The best of relations get strained when Arjun becomes jealous of his devoted best friend and band-mate Manu, played by Salman Khan, who is evidently more talented than him, but nowhere near as focused or ambitious. Manu's family wants him to learn music though he keeps running away from it.
The first half does just enough to set things up for the explosive drama that is to follow post interval. The story gets going when Arjun (Ajay) plays a vicious game and hatches a conspiracy to ruin Manu’s (Salman) career when he emerge as the scene stealer at the concerts & also wins the love of Priya (Asin).
The movie rests largely on Ajay Devgn & Salman’s shoulders and both are is impressive. What else can one ask for when it boasts of some incredible performances by two of the most talented stars of bollywood.
After All the Best, Ajay Devgn proves his versatility. The talented actor has once again carried off his character with utmost intensity. Ajay has delivered one of his finest performances and has succeeded in showing the gradual change in his character. Hopefully one can see the best villain award coming his way into the awards this year
Salman after the recent success of Wanted, he seems to be enjoying himself and is extremely likeable. There's no denying that Salman Khan is a supremely talented actor, but in this movie, he proves that he's amongst the best in the business today. No one could have portrayed Manu as effectively as Salman has enacted. Though Salman is repetitive he has given one of his best performances ever. Salman steals this show with the author-backed role.
Asin looks cute despite of her small role. Asin after a brilliant performance in Gajani, she performs below her potential. She shares average chemistry with Devgn & neither she doesn’t form a fabulous pair with Salman.
Popular VJs Aditya and Ranvijay make a good supporting cast. The two VJs fit perfectly in the role of the band members. Om Puri in a small part impresses as usual.
Director Amrutlal Vipul Shah’s London Dreams is his most accomplished works till date. He has also successfully captured the emotions & gives space for the character development of Arjun & Manu. What can really be appreciated about this one is the way Vipul has managed to give equal attention to both his leading men. Vipul deserves a huge applause for his treatment of the subject and his narrative structure.
Camerawork of Sejal Shah is of high standards. Cinematography brings the eye catching visuals. Music by Shankar Ehsaan Loy is not really up to the mark. Doesn’t capture your senses, except couple of tunes done with mediocre. Salim-Sulaiman's background score is par excellence.
Over all London Dreams has it all, two great stars, talented technical team, beautiful visuals and an interesting story. All the film needed was a shorter second half & a better climax.
London Dreams is the first movie of the year that lures one to go and watch it in cinema halls.I wouldn't be very surprised if this movie finishes as one of the best movies of 2009.
