Lonavla is a place close to my heart. I have stayed there for 3 years and I know every nook and corner of the place.
Attractions are Bushi Dam, which you should go to only after the rains have well settled in and the dam begins to overflow. With the water cascading down the steps that you sit on, is a amazing chilly feeling, coupled with the ''Chai' and perhaps the ''butta'' that is served by the stalls around the place.
Bootleggers valley: This is a ''MUST NOT MISS'' place. It's a 500 feet drop from a place called ''St. Mary's Villa''. The trek down is exhillarating. A caution - there are loose rocks and gravel, so you should be wearing track pants and approprite trekking footware. The base is a valley that has gushing water. Walk up to teh source and voila it's a back drop of Indiana jones and the Temple of Doom.
You may want to visit the Valvan dam. If you can sweet talk the care takers, maybe they will give you a boat ride in it.
Over all recommended time is during the rains. Other parts of the year is piping hot.
A must not miss is the LONAVALA chikki, and CHOCOLATE FUDGE.......
