Atrocities by Housing Cooperative Societies. Review on Lok Sabha

Probably concept of housing cooperative society was conceived to provide quality residential accommodation to a group of persons with limited individual resources enabling them to combine their resources and enjoy the benefits of economics of large scale. ( I am here not detailing how builders / developers once again found way out to commercially benefit themselves out of this concept as well ; of course by accumulation like needed persons , however this is not our subject matter here)

This concept works perfectly well to the extent of providing quality residence at comparably lower cost. There comes the need to manage the residential complex , like sewage , water , electricity , White washing , Security etc etc,…

But Government in order to keep their own check and balances on these Cooperative societies created ‘By Laws’ which can be amended , appended by the Managing Committee of the Societies ( Or The Board of Directors ; they love to call themselves ) and Thus for objectives and reasons not know indirectly The Govt. have made them Semi God.

1. They made rules and regulations , and name them ‘By Law’ and hence as            good as an Act of Parliament.

   
   




2. They enforce their own created Law , become self Judicial , pronounce judgment and make the person / resident mentally imprisoned by creating havoc , that they can order termination of residents entry / exit , water ,electricity etc. etc.

   
   




3. They make rule and charge exorbitant maintenance chares from non member resident ( Tenants ) , They penalize yes I mean penalize them for any grievance they have from their member. They humiliate them and does not stop here they even make criminal conspiracy against them , Yes Yes I know I am writing Criminal Conspiracy .

   
   




4. And the beauty of the thing is that they do all these in the name of Law , One may ask then why the aggrieved person don’t knock the door of Law if there is reason to believe that these atrocities , acts they ( Societies ) do are Inhuman , Immoral , or can be well termed as the acts of British Rulers over Indians; (The Law created by British were institutions created to protect their whims and wishes disguise in the name of Law , which they institutionalized to provide justice to Indians ) ; These societies work on the same philosophy.

   
   




5. Besides there is a word ‘Nuisance Value’ , lot of person understand this word and as well the office bearers of these societies. And so the aggrieved succumb to these , These problem is very grave in societies where committee members keep the rule book to the chest and start treating the Residential Complex as their Kingdom.

   
   

My request to the Govt. is to review the Society Act, and fine tune it to accomplish its objective and not let it be instrument to act as a tool to:

a) To Subsidies member resident at the cost of Non member residents.

b) To Differentiate between residents

c) To Extort , harass , humiliate , Non member residents.

The one who got these treatments and succumb are often people who work hard , and trust in growth , whatever little they have vision too ( a vision which they wish to make real at their cost , risk and expanse) , These energies can be use for more productive purposes , Please do not entangle them in legal mess , and also not let them live in under others whimsical Kingdom in one’s own Free Country.
