There is nowhere like INDIA!

I moved to the UK when I was 7 years old which was in 1998. I have moved around the UK and lived here for nearly 9 years but it is completely different to living in India. I love India, for me there is nowhere I can live other than India. I will  definitely move to India in the near future. If you are very Indian and cannot absorb other cultures like me, please do not move out of India. I miss speaking in Hindi to my friends as the only people who I can speak Hindi to is to my parents and my sister. There are very few Indians living in my town, so I cannot talk to anyone about my interests, Bollywood and Indian Cricket. Even if there were more Indians here, I doubt it if they would actually act Indian. Most people my age who are living here turn British. I suppose I can’t blame them as they will live here for the rest of their lives and they were born here so they will only speak in English and act English.

If you do not care about your Indian roots, then moving to another country will be easy for you and you will integrate with the natives and become one of them. The weather is very bad. In the winters, I am depressed as the outside looks so gloomy. The only good weather season is in June, July and August. Even though the weather is good, there is nothing to do, and this country is so boring anyway.

We have to drive to another city to see my Hindi Films because I can’t see them in my town but I miss seeing films in Indian theaters. One good thing is now that all of India’s cricket matches are now available. Before only certain series’ were available so that is a positive. I can’t listen to the FM Radio Stations, there are NRI radio stations but they are so so bad and they don’t always play Hindi Music.

I have got very nice friends but I can’t talk to them about my interests because they don’t know what I will be talking about. I can talk about Football teams but I can’t talk about how over-rated AB jr and Miss Rai(sorry, soon to be Mrs Bachchan) are.

If you feel Indian at heart, it will be very difficult to live abroad but if you do not care about your own country and only care about Bush and Blair, then abroad is better for you.
