While we were little, little did we know that we were living the best phase of our life then.best phase ever! Not that when you grow up, things become bad but I guess you just become corrupted by the practicality of life just a bit too much to experience pure emotion! Little Manhattan is the sweetest movie I have ever seen!
The movie is about purity of thought and feelings. It's set in that age when one is neither a kid nor an adolescent. Its a love story of a boy and a girl aged 10 and 11! To talk about the storyline would be of no avail because all kido love stories have a common basic theme- boy meets girl- falls in love or infatuation and well.the rest is a pretty sad tale! So what's new about this one- Well, its smells of freshness to say the least and the acting is superb!- I saw the movie twice and couldn't help noticing the very mature and sophisticated method acting by both the kids. Gabriel and Charlie Ray are both excellent expressionists.
The movie doesn't have a fairytale ending and thats makes it even more realistic.although I did feel sorry for 10 year olds having to go through such a phase which made they say.'Love sucks'!
The soundtrack is quite good but guess what you won't be able to find its album in the mart.I tried painfully to download some of its tracks and bumped into many other people trying to do the same. However I did manage to download the track called'Love' by Matt White which comes along while the kids hang out in the Central Park. One thing that adds life to the movie is the mostly outdoor setup.in the parks and on the neat Manhattan roads in suave neighbourhoods. The city is in fact the third but silent protagonist which adds vibrant colors and fragrance to the sweet taste.
There's not much else to be said about the movie except that it's not to be missed. Watch it with your loved one and you'll wanna have a cuddle! Sweet dreams!
