In the tiny neighbourhood of Jubilee Hills, where filmstars can walk into it in flip flops, Little Italy stands out with its trademark blend of café and cozy restaurant feel. A distinctive décor with glass and heavy wood with an outdoor bit of water running over rocks marks out the place.
First things first. It is a vegetarian place. If you are the regular meat eating Italiano, then this is not the place for you. But if you want to taste the real food of Italy minus the non-veg stuff then this is the place for you. Antipasti, zuppe, insalate, pizza, primi piatti and secondi piatti, it takes some time to study, understand and think up your order.
The better idea would be to ask for the chef, tell him your preferences and ask him to rustle up things for your taste. The other option is to see the simpler things of life, decipher carefully between the olives, artichokes, the brocolli and other Mediterranean goodies and order. Maybe we were unlucky, the pasta came after a good 40 minutes wait, but there were others tucking into the food which came fast and steam was rising out of it.
As you wait, you can amble in the sprawling place and checkout the studio clothing, accessories and jewellery in one corner or get updated on Italian wines though the diner doesn't have a separate wine list. Sit and tuck it in. Buon appetito.
