Stains on my shirt. Review on Lipstick

So here we have a serial which is about women protagonists having their lips smeared with a thick coating of... You guessed it right 'Lip-Stick'.

The main plot of the serial is the fight between two leading High society gossip magazines Darpan ( Mirror... albeit a broken one...) run by Singhanias & LipStick (SlapStick?) run by Jagan Luthra... ( Two essentials for any lady. Without Darpan how can you apply (for) Lipstick? :) )

Before you jump to any conclusions... the serial is more about 'Darpan', it's politics & Mr. Luthras plans to take over Darpan. They could have as well called it 'Darpan' but guess name 'Lipstick' (the under-dog mag) appeared more saleable.

The villain/Vamp of the serial is Sheethal Singhania (Nighar Khan) who is hell bent on usurping the magazine from her naive mother & drunkard (sharaabi) brother Tarun. She keeps throwing money at her brother so that he gets drunk and stops attending office. She is also successful in getting her competitor honest, middle class (to the extent of being cliched) Suniti Verma (Shweta Salve) out of Darpan.

Her brother Tarun in the drunken state makes some girl Mini pregnant. Suniti forces him to marry the girl along with his mother. Sheetal also does a Volte-Face & coerces him to marry Mini. Before we know it a Tarot reader Jasmine & cinema actress (who looks old enough to be Sheetals mother) Rupaali start wasting time in true Johnny Lever/Khader Khan style, like in Hindi movies.

Mini with help of Jasmine tells her hubby that 'He is being used by his Sis... and her generosity is to stop him from going to Office...'. All of a sudden this Mungeri-Laal who has been day dreaming all along wakes up enlightened like Thathaagath Buddha... and he joins competitor mag 'Lipstick' (Of all the magazines... can't writers be more imaginative...?)

Mr. Luthra still enamored with his mother treats him like his own son & tries to get him to Sunitis place. ( Will someone do that to the owner of competitor mag?... It is like Bill Gates 'God of Mircosoft' employing Linus Torvalds of Linux fame...)

Now the writer proves my suspicions right that Nigar Khans role is based on Sarah Michelle Gellars role in ''Cruel Intentions'' by the curious turn of Sheethal asking her beau Abhay Ahuja (Aly Khan) to sleep with Suniti to make her forget 'Lipstick'. His reward, he would get to sleep with Sheethal (How imaginative are our story writers are in 'edeptation' of Hollywood movies... now even in soaps??). This after being a bad Sis for her naive brother ( True she doesn't do full SMG act... given Indian sensibilities)

Our hero Abhay says ''Meri Pehchaan I love you...'' ( My intro is I love you...) a couple of times & Suniti falls head over heels for him like a lame duck, when he nearly 'steals' her car after puncturing her tyres. He dresses her in a Saree & applies vermilion (sindhoor) on her forehead & Lo... she gets ready to sleep with Abhay ( Bharathiya Naari?...)

And everyone advices Suniti that she should marry Abhay since she has slept with him (sic). Now Abhay starts demanding that Suniti stop working... to top it all he himself stops working spending most of him time at Suniti's place eating free lunch (Mufth ki Rotiyan) & advicing her that she shouldn't work as his Mom was a Housewife (please someone pass on a Saridon...)

In the meantime his sister gets married to Sunitis colleague & finally after boring us with ''Will she/wont she...'' suspense for 6-7 episodes ( story dragging along slower than a snail) Suniti finally decides to resign... Thanks Sunithi for saving us from further torture.

In between all these politics, nobody seems to be working... Sheetal plotting with Abhay in all sort of shady places... Abhay neglecting his office running behind Suniti like Majnu... Suniti taking indefinite leave after getting bed by Abhay... Tarun spending most his time at home with Mini... Jasmine making permanent halt at Singhania house along with Rupaali ( Daughter of a millionaire born to a supporting actress)... Mrs. Singhania who stops going to office to stop her sons wife-beating... Jagan Luthra who advices Tarun to take over forcibly(?) Sunitis place... while not drooling over Taruns Mom.... but desists from firing Sunithi even after she goes on a very long leave without informing ; walking in & out of office like it is some coffee shop... hero Abhay who has this ''Why did I join this low paying serial?'' lost-in-kumbh-mela look throughout the serial... (reminding me at times of Kakaji Rajesh Khanna)

All the characters seem busy is creating hot high-society gossip themselves instead of writing gossips about others. Someone can start a third mag 'Nail Polish' to write just about these characters. (they generate so much gossip material). Any takers?

I am looking everywhere for some stain-remover to scrub off this lipstick before it begins to stain my mind...
