Bring Bliss to Dry Lips

Okay, I know it is summer now.  But to cool us off, I thought I'd think about cool winter and see if it cooled me down.  Ha ha.  Lip care is necessary in winter and all through the year.

Your lips may be getting unwanted attention, from the environment that is. Sun, wind, and air pollution can irritate your lips.  The primary purpose of a lip balm is to protect and prevent chapped or cracked lips. Blistex lip balm is the only product I now use to prevent dry and cracked lips.  You won't be afraid to face the environment by locking your lips in a seal of moisture with a coating of Blistex lip balm.

In the past, I’ve used ChapStick. I’ve found Blistex lip balm significantly better than ChapStick. The Blistex feels like it starts working immediately. Blistex feels like a moisturizer and goes on comfortably smoother than ChapStick, which for me felt more like a paste or wax. Blistex gives my lips a cool, fresh feeling. Unlike ChapStick, Blistex lip balm does not clump on my lips. The regular Blistex lip balm does not smell medicine-like. It has a very light pleasant scent that is barely noticeable.

The tube can slip easily into any pocket so it’s convenient to carry. In cold temperatures, when weather can damage your lips, this product relieves them. Because it’s an all-weather product, it’s great to beat those cold winter winds or the drying heat of summer sun. If I’m in the sun and have forgotten my sunscreen, I apply some of the Blistex lip balm directly to my nose. Since noses stick out farthest, they seem to burn first.

Did you know that licking your lips dries them out? Your lips are not like the rest of your skin. Lips have a very thin external layer, which allows moisture to evaporate faster. Dry, irritated lips need lip balm applied more often. Since using Blistex lip balm, my lips feel moist continually, and I have lost the habit of licking my lips.

Blistex lip balm comes with an SPF-10 sun protection. While lips don’t tan, they can burn. Lips are constantly exposed to the elements. Using this product generously and regularly may help prevent possible cancer-creating over-exposure to the sun. Lips need to be protected from the sun at all times. Sun damage may occur more in the warmer months, but harmful rays are fairly constant throughout the entire year. Even on a cloudy day, you are not completely shielded from UV rays.

During winter months, a lip balm is necessary, too. Cold wind can dry out the lips. Another factor with winter is that snow actually reflects the sun’s rays and your lips could get “freezer burn”(sun burn).

I have read statistics revealing that men are more likely to develop lip cancer than women. This is because a lot of women wear lipstick which provides at least some shelter from the sun. An extreme danger which can develop from too much exposure to sun is skin cancer. An SPF-10 is considered safe for people who burn moderately. Sometimes the use of an SPF of 25 or higher is recommended to people who play or work outside all day. If this is the case, you may want to use something with a higher SPF than Blistex lip balm with SPF-10.

Although not 100% scent-free, the regular Blistex lip balm doesn't smell like make-up, so men can feel just as comfortable using this as women can. While lip glosses are marketed for women and often color lips, Blistex lip balm is viewed as a medicinal, and it does not add color to lips. Men can throw a tube into a gym or travel bag.

Blistex lip balm is available in three “flavors”: regular, mint, and berry. Don’t let your lips feel parched. Reaching for a stick won’t have you reaching very deeply into your pocketbook, at around$1.00 a 0.15 ounce tube. For a small tube, the price is very reasonable. I’ve even seen it on sale for$0.79 on ebarbershop.com, a site which is geared towards men, but also sells unisex products. I prefer the berry lip balm which has a nice cherry flavor. I have tried the mint as well, and it has a slight menthol taste, which is very refreshing.

By applying Blistex lip balm on a regular basis you can keep your lips from becoming dry and cracked. Be sure to apply liberally and pay special attention to the corners of your mouth, as they can be trouble areas on skin which is prone to cracking. You should carry a tube of lip balm with you during the day. You may want to see your doctor if your lips become very cracked or begin bleeding.

I will often apply lip balm as a base coat before applying lipstick. It slides on smoothly and leaves no waxy buildup. It seems to be absorbed immediately and gives my lips almost a tingly sensation just after an application. Lip color does not look good if your lips are chapped or dry. The lips’ surface should be smooth for lipstick to look just right.

For a product with such good quality, it’s perfectly affordable for even those on the tightest of budgets. It gives my lips a moist and sheer look, and best of all it prevents my lips from cracking. This is my favorite stick lip balm. These lip balm sticks are definitely a great buy. With Blistex lips balms being so affordable, I keep a few of these tubes around. There’s always one for my purse, and one for my nightstand. I try to stock up since I seem to finish them quickly.

Blistex is inexpensive and available most anywhere. This is the one lip balm I count on. My lips are very sensitive and quick to dry and crack. After using this product, my lips feel much better, smooth and soft. The price is cheap yet brings fine results. I feel that my lips are being replenished with moisture continuously. This lip balm is really affordable and it glides on very easily, not waxy like ChapStick.

Treat your lips to a blast of berry or a mouthful of mint Blistex lip balm and keep your lips looking and feeling healthy. Don’t pout. Face the environment after locking your lips in a seal of moisture with a coating of Blistex lip balm. Along with my American Express card, I never leave home without it.
