I'm using it as is without any 3rd party firmware upgrade and it does exactly what I needed it to do: basic wireless connection with MAC address filtering to only allow the MAC addresses that I've specified for the wireless connection. Signal strength and range seems little better than my old NetGear G speed wireless router. I haven't run into the constant "site not found" error which is why I replaced my old NetGear router with this router.
One thing this doesn't have which my old NetGear router had is being able to specify the IP address for a particular MAC address. Maybe with the 3rd party firmware upgrade, this is possible, but with its own firmware, I did not see this option and I had to configure my computers to use specific IP addresses. I also didn't like the fact that I had to go through the configuration program which came in CD to configure part of the router then get to the web configuration and configure other. It's probably done this way to secure the router before starting wireless access, but I think I would have liked it better to just have all configuration done from the web interface.
