I was taken in by the profile of leelavati hospital and chose it for my wife's treatment. But our experience was horrible. the doctor did not pay any attention to my wifes pregnancy and was only in a hurry to finish our appointment (she spent only 5 mins with us after making us wait for 2 hours) and present the bill. they did not even have a nurse available to take blood pressure! For everything they kept saying come later or wait for 2 hours more.


Sadly, the pregnancy resulted in miscarriage and we had to go in for a D&C procedure. This procedure that costs 5k outside cost us nearly 30k at lilavati. but though the hospital puts the 5-star hotel charges, patient care and treatment is really pathetic.


When we scheduled the procedure with the doc (who seems to be doing only PR all the time), she did not bother at all to prepare in any way for it. She was 3 hours late for the procedure! And she had not told her staff or the  admissions people to schedule it, she did not book a room nor did she book the operation theater nor did she tell us to do any preparations. In fact, she didnt even bother to tell us that for General Anaesthesia you have to go on totally empty stomach.  Hows that for gross negligence??? Luckily I myself had the foresight to check this on google and learn for myself otherwise anything could have happened!


As a result of complete inattention by the doc, we had to simply go from one counter to another for almost 2 hours to figure out whats going on. And everywhere, everyone was really rude to us, and most uncooperative. And so my wife had to deal with this run-around just before a surgical procedure without having even had a sip of water ... The procedure is 15 mins and with all preparations etc should be over in 3 hours max. However due to disorganization and inefficiency of the people at lilavati, we ended up spending 9 hours there!! it was HELL for my wife who just finally broke down at being treated like this by the hospital. They totally even forgot to give her anything to eat or drink until 4 pm so she was hungry and thirsty and suffering. For any bit of attention you really have to make a loud noise otherwise the staff is only hanging around gossiping among themselves. After the procedure, we were ready to go home but had to wait another 2 1/2 hours to just get the bill because "the technician who prepares bills was not to be found." Can you imagine??? this is worse than the functioning of a government hospital!


Finally, if you use this hospital you will realize that all they care about is increasing their billing to you. You are nothing but a "bakra" to them. They will make you do unnecessary tests and take unnecessary medicines just to increase the bill. The worst is that they will not even tell you in advance what the bill will be; and take a hefty deposit from you; and AFTER the procedure they just write whatever they feel like and make you pay it otherwise they wont release you from the hospital. Their charges have absolutely no connection to the quality of service provided or to general rate for similar services.


Also, their pricey rooms are totally substandard with bits of the ceiling falling all over, horrible linoleum flooring peeling off from the floor, poor lighting, no curtains, cheap furniture, rotting doors etc. In every service provided, the hospital is being very cheap and then they bill you exorbitant rates and treat you badly.


BOTTOM LINE - THIS HOSPITAL IS ONLY INTERESTED IN BILLING YOU WHATEVER THEY FEEL LIKE AND PROVIDING USELESS CARE. WITH THIS APPROACH YOU SIMPLY CANNOT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR OR YOUR FAMILY'S WELLBEING. SO DEFINITELY STAY AWAY, AS THEY ARE A CHOR, FRAUD HOSPITAL. NEVER NEVER GO THERE. THEY DO NOT PAY ATTENTION TO PATIENT CARE AT ALL.
