Lifebouy was the first soap that had a deodorant in it.

The History

In 1895 a soap was developed on the Island of Cyprus for the Lever Brothers Company. The formula is secret, but it says on the red and white box, that it is an anti-bacterial soap.

The company developed this soap for men, who worked hard at work, and needed a heavy duty soap, after they came home from work, to get rid of their body odour.

The company has always made this soap in a 2.9 ounce bar. They haven't changed it for more that 109 years. Way back then a bar of soap cost seven cents.

This soap was once made for men

Today with women doing the same type of work as men, (on fishing boat, in hide a fur companies, lifting steel, working on oil rigs and driving large moving trucks..etc.), they have begun to use it, as well.

My husband once owned a Steel and Scrap Metal Company, and I use to buy him this soap, in a 6 bar package. I paid $12.00 CAD. for this.

When we lived in our first two homes, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, they weren't air-conditioned. In the summer the temperature is usually over 30 Cel., and all of our family used this soap, it was truly a life saver for us.

How to use it

You use it the same way you would us any soap, just step in the shower, and rub on the soap. It lathers quite quickly, so you don't have to use much of it.

It does a carbon scent, and so we made use to remove all of the soap, and then use a fragrance after we finished drying out bodies.

You must keep this soap at room temperature and in a dry part of your bathroom.

Warning

In Canada, this soap is a bright read colour, and young children might think it's candy. Please, keep it in a place that they can't reach it.

My Conclusion

I felt confident after we used Lifebouy that there was no germs or dirt on our bodies. This was a very good reason to allow out children, once they started school, to use Lifebouy, because they played in sand boxes, and that's where children get lice.

This is not a beauty bar or to improve your skin. It is a soap is not meant for people with sensitive skin, or for people who don't do hard work. If you do, then I highly recommend it to you.
