Lenovo Z2 Plus(4/64 Gb): My experience after 42 days of usage

What is great'

1) Snapdragon 820 at 2.15GHz' Butter-smooth performance

2) Ram Management - 4 GB(LDDR4), more than sufficient, great at multitasking

3) U-Touch' very easy, convenient, customizable, addictive!

4) Fingerprint sensor' works fast and accurate

5) Battery life' Lasts whole day despite heavy usage. Has intelligent charge cut-off feature.

6) Call quality' Incoming & outgoing calls are loud and clear, signal reception is great too

(*I live in rural region. I know nothing about its 4G connectivity or VoLTE support.)

7) Sound recording' Microphone is awesome, even better than OnePlus 3

8) Internal Memory' 64 GB is plenty for an average user like me

What is average(neither very good nor bad)'

1) Camera performance(nice only in good light, see the photo added by me)

2) Audio output(through speakers and earphone)

3) Battery charging time(almost 2 hrs from 15% to 100%)

4) Display quality

5) ZUI with customizations(needs improvements). Very few bloat wares.

6) Google Launcher is good

7) Modest 5' size with simple looks

8) Customizable LED notification(I hate notification lights though. I've turned if off.)

What is bad'

1) Heating on heavy multitasking and gaming

2) Some bug in UI. Once you remove alarm clock and Whatsapp from app history, both stop functioning until you reopen them.(*This is fixed by latest updates.)

3) Camera - In poor light it turns almost paralyzed, shaky images due to lack of OIS, Slo-mo is not so good either, very few options and customizations in camera app(I am now using a third-party app named'Open Camera')

4) Almost no real protection(no Gorilla Glass)

(Not sure of its scratch resistant capabilities as I have put my phone in leather flip cover since day one.)

5) Adaptive brightness feature has some issue. It fails to operate correctly.

6) After-sales-services by Lenovo and Amazon(This is not my experience. I figured it out from bad reviews and complaints of frustrated buyers.)

What are the mysteries'

1) Lenovo, ZUK and Amazon do not tell what kind of protection this device has(Mention only Fiber Glass frame and Roll Cage design). Why?

2) Although this is a Snapdragon 820 powered device, there is no mention of Quick Charging facility anywhere in the specs or user manual. Also this phone is not anywhere in the list of Qualcomm certified Quick charging devices. Why?

3) There is an app named OnekeyUpdate preinstalled in this device. According to Norton, this is a security threat as this app sends user information to the server located in China. Why?

4) When you touch Android version several times, the animation of Marshmallow doesn't appear. Why?

5) Chinese e-shopping sites are selling Zuk Z2(4/64GB) at a cost equivalent to Rs. 17500/-. Yet this device is 20k here. Why?

Why so many bad reviews'

1) Very limited exchange offers and no real cash back by Amazon

2) Delayed delivery of parcels, rude deliverymen(not my experience again)

3) Faulty devices sold probably without proper checkups(my device is also faulty)

4) Late or no response to complaints, Lenovo appears passive even on social networking sites

5) Device not up to the expectations of the buyers(nothing flagship-like except the Processor)

Who should not buy this device'

1) Heavy gamers and people who do a lot of multitasking all the time(Heating)

2) People who want a good camera(Average Camera)

3) Those who want a rugged device(no protection)

4) Those who love to flaunt their phones(modest looks and 5' size)

Who should buy'

1) Those who want a modest looking smaller phone for single-handed use.

2) Those who want a powerful lag-free device for their daily needs

What do I think of this device -

This phone is good for an average user. You can think of this device as OnePlus 3 Mini(only with bad camera). I think it should have been a little cheaper. With more updates however, I hope some of the issues will be resolved.

'This device surely does give near flagship performance.'
