First thing to do is to root it and install custom rom with good rating(no bloatware), android 6 - this is to avoid commercials, spyware/adware which drain the battery and consume memory. Than remove everything you do not use and the app "secureit", it is a system app but can be removed - resource hungry and potentially spyware. Heating problem occurs rarely it does in iPhone too.
The phone rarely freezes however, the problem might be nonresponsive screen(once in a while for no reason). In rooted device battery life is more then OK even if used for fb for many hours a day.
Its battery issue.

We shud chrge only when its under 40% cz freqnt n irregular chrging of phone leads to these types of issues.
M freqnt buyer of phones n I noticed these prblms aftr dat I strtd using in crrct way.
