I bought this Lenovo ideapad S10 after checking with similar ACER, and HP notebooks - which are released around last quarter of 2008. I bought during Nov, 2008. so far it is working very good.
It is easier to carry, LCD screen 10.1" wide screen is good. I use it to read PDF files like a book. I can comfortably lie down and carry this notebook like a book to read. The battery lasts around 2hours 30 minutes, which is ok for me to use it for book reading.
The keypad has a tiny left shift key, which is difficult to use it. Also it does not have ctrl key on both side of the space key, only in left side of the space key the ctrl key exists. Those who like to type a lot, should go 12"wide screen notebooks, which also(may) have wider keyboard.
with preloaded operating system Windows XP Home, which is better than Windows Vista, I am glad to use this notebook. I am using this notebook for personal purposes.
I don't have other Microsoft packages. I mostly use open source / free applications: Open office 3.1.1, GIMP, Avast antivirus Home edition. With 160GB harddisk I have enough space.
I will recommend this notebook to anyone. But keep in mind if you are a person who type a lot you should try the keyboard yourself before you take any decision. Also consider the battery life is enough for your lifestyle.
the weight is also less around 1.9Kg.
