Lenovo has come up with its much hyped series of laptops having an integrated TV Tuner card. Fine. They claim that you can WATCH TV and RECORD ANALOG VIDEOS directly to the HARD DISK!
Nice to know. Watching TV is awesome too. But wait. When you try to record an analog video you suddenly find out that you have been cheated. There's no way you can record analog videos using their TV TUNER card.
Let me give a little prologue. Lenovo introduced the 3000 Y 100 series roundabout last Diwali. That particular model had an S VIDEO INPUT which enabled recording analog videos directly to the hard disk. That model was suddenly withdrawn from the market for inexplicable reasons. Then they came up with different compositions with varying specifications, but the thread that they had in common was their TV Tuner card (integrated) having Analog recording capacity. But, to the utter dismay of the customer, the S Video input was nowhere to be seen now. It was replaced by a 'Firewire' connection which enabled digital recording but no analog recording.
Lenovo's engineers and support staff had no clue to this change and when contacted threw their hands up in the air to display their inability to explain why one could not record analog videos on their laptop in spite of their claim.
Not only did they goofed here, they failed to remove an ingrated message in the help section which claimed that analog videos could still be recorded inspite of the absence of the key S Video Input!
*So Lenovo customers, all of you who have purchased a Lenovo laptop having a TV tuner card, please go to the help section of your recording software given in the laptop and see for yourselves that they have claimed that you can record analog videos. Then just ask their service centre guys how you can record an analog video without the S video input. This is a gross violation of customer rights. Press them for an answer. You might be offered a full refund for you laptop. Ha ha ha ha ha.
I can see trouble brewing for Lenovo. Wait till this reaches the MEDIA's ears!*
